Bottled. Thanks to chris_o for picking this up at Chelmsford BF last year. A viscous black beer with a tiny puddle of tan coloured head. The aroma has a lactic quality together with licquorice and soy and roasted barley. The taste has noticeable alcohol strength together with bitter coffee and loads of maltiness. Again some lactose coming through. A very tasty and quite chewy stout

THIS BEER IS A REAL STOUT LIKE IT HAS TO BE. THE BURNED COFFEE TASTE WHICH IS VERY STRONG MAKES THE BEER WORTH TRYING.

rauchbier (3891) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - NOV 1, 2005
Bottle conditioned, ZBF 2005. Jet black, tobacco brown head and gentle condition. Big sweet liquorice and coffee aromas, full bodied, chewy and sweet in the mouth with some roast barley bitterness and more liquorice. Lingering roasted bitterness with hints of coffee and a gentle sweetness in the finish.

Storm (2684) - Amager, DENMARK - OCT 17, 2005
Sampled at RBESG 2005. Dark brown allmost black colour. Nice aroma of complex burned malt. Great complex flavour that ends sweet. Smooth and nice mouthfeel. A very nice beer indeed.

BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - OCT 16, 2005
Sampled at Logan’s ratebeer GABF gathering: Deep brown hue with small tan head. The aroma is sweet malts (caramel and mocha), spicy and grassy hops, lot of grainy and herbal esters, and a hint of lactic sourness. The taste is a bit too sweet and underdeveloped. Lots of chocolate and toffee with solif fleshy fruits and a undertone of clove and pepper. The feel is oily and sticky yet only medium-bodied. Good and nice to have tried. Would not mind another chance at a re-rate.

Jeppe (2631) - Brooklyn, Alabama, USA - OCT 6, 2005
Sampled at RBESG 2005.
Dark brown colored, fine tan head. Hard roasted and chocolaty aroma, dark and heavy with a tone of alcohol and grassy notes. Malt and chocolate in the sweet and full flavor. Heavy and warming with an alcoholic end. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Lovely!

tiggmtl (4545) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 4, 2005
Sweet, rose water, chocolate, cakelike aroma. Opaque black body with decent off white head that recedes to cover. Very sweet, floral, cakelike flavour with strong roasty bitterness emerging towards the long dry finish. Sweet floral tones last in the aftertaste. Medium-full body with soft, lively effervescence. Bottle sampled at RBESG 2005.
