(750ml best by June 2014) pours very murky brown with a long lasting thick khaki head and excellent lacing. Nose of oak, Belgian yeast, red wine. Wine has covered up any roast in the nose. Taste is quite tart, full of oak, red wine, tart grapes and very subdued chocolate notes. Should have been less wine barrel aged and more stout and it would have been better. Courtesy of SHIG. Pours opaque chocolate mahogany and thin tan head. The aroma is a mix of oak, wood oak spices, earthiness, caramel, chocolate malts and black licorice. The taste has a pleasing harmonious mix of chocolate and yeasty spices and then moving toward more chocolate, dark roasted malts, and spiced apple. UPDATED: NOV 15, 2010 In short: An intense attack of red wine barrels with bubbles. A very good dark vinous ale. not much an imperial stout.

The look: Cloudy very dark burgundy topped by a very small beige head
In long: The nose is very vinous, fruity, wine barrels. Taste is an intense attack of wine barrels. This beer has a lot of oak tannins, and when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. A lot of fruits with fresh prunes, raisins, cherries, grapes, more… The tannic astringency is quite strong. A light acidity in the finish. This beer is very vinous, very fruity, very tannic, but one thing it is not is an imperial stout. I really liked that beer. Not excellent but a superb red-meat meal accompaniment. Totally different from the regular Podge. Comparing the regular Podge with this one is like comparing Apples and Microsofts.

Cloudy brown beer, good pale tan head. Comparatively light palate. Crispy and semi dry. Hardly any dark malt here. Lots of red wine. Minerals. A little wood in the back end. Mild aniseed alcohol. Semi dry finish. The base beer is overwhelmed by the barrel. But still very nice!
750ml bottle. Murky dark red-brown shade with thin cap. Big fruity red wine and chocolatey cocoa aroma. Taste follows the exact same path. Medium body, medium carb. Tap @ Fermentoren, Aarhus, 10.5%. Very dark brown with medium tan. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, red wine, oak and wood. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, red wine, oak, wood, sweet, vinous, little sour fruit, dark fruit, warming and a little bitter.
