500mL bottle from Bucket Boys. BB NOV 2020
Pours an opaque deepest of brown bodies, holding a thin rim off espresso cream.
Vinous from the get go - sort of Oud Bruin/Flemish red feel to it with notes of balsamic, browned toast, plummy fruits, dark berries, old wood, slight funky horsey notes.
Full body, low carbonation, quite well attenuated & dry yet smooth textured, sort of tannin, mildly acidic on the finish.
There's plenty going on here - sort of starts off with a nutty malt character but then it's a free for all - charred oak, blackberry & black cherry, plum pit, earthy mulchy Pinot Noir character, Bretty woody phenolics, strong black coffee, cacao powder, lingering horse blanket on the finish with a lingering drying tannin.
Yep, more like a supercharged Oud Bruin - the beer equivalent to a funky old Burgundy - dig it but probably not everyones cup of tea...especially if they're looking for a traditional Imperial Stout.

A deep brown stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet ground cherry with light corky notes, light Brett, light lactic notes, nice and woody. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with light Brett, light lactic notes, light licorice and molasses, alcohol warmth, very nice and complex. Bottle from Bièropholie. OttBottShare March 2017.

Tap at Damian. Very intense and rich whirlwind of flavours. Lots of coffee, roast, sourness, dark fruits, prune. Also winey tartness and general woodiness. Lightly lactic. Sipper. Great beer but demanding.
