COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Morganton in Western North Carolina, today home of the Fonta Flora Brewery led by its creative mastermind Todd Boera, who gives emphasis to using local Appalachian ingredients in his beers whenever possible. Todd’s vision that ”fermentation is yet another medium for creating art” is much more than just a phrase, it’s the actual ideology behind the brewery. However, what few people outside the US know, is that this area plays an important role in American history. 500 years ago it was a proud mainstay of several native American chiefdoms. Joara being one of them, neigbouring Cofitachequi being another. This beer is named after the mythical chieftainness “The Lady of Cofitachequi” who is believed to be one of few – if not the only – female native American rulers. Taken prisoner by invading Spanish conquistadores, on an insatiable hunt for gold, this proud lady managed to escape and rejoin with her people. The invaders built several forts in an attempt to control the area, only to see them all destroyed and burned down by local warriors months later. Only one out of 120 Spaniards is said to have survived. The defeat effectively ended all Spanish attempts to colonize the area. The Lady and her fellow chieftains were again rulers of their own land.

Ingredienser: Vand. Bygmalt: Pilsner, Pale, Cara-pils. Humle: Amarillo, Simcoe, Citra. Gær: US-ale

Hzay, orange-amber colored, medium white frothy head. Aroma is of malt, caramel, citrus, fruity and floral hops, medium+ aroma. Taste is medium sweet malt, caramel, moderate citrus, fruity and floral hoppiness, medium bitterness, dry finish, a bit older bottle, but the hops are still fighting on! Medium bodied, soft carbonation, oily. Fresh one probably kicks ass.

CanCrusher (1134) - Ilirska Bistrica, SLOVENIA - NOV 29, 2017
Bottle 0,50L. Hazy, almost murky ocra color with small, frothy, white head. Aroma of tropical fruits. Moderate bitter taste with fruity notes and heavy bitter finish. Slightly harsh. Medium to full body, dry texture, lively carbonation, metallic finish feel. This one is at the end of exp. date. Should try it again, fresher...

On tap @King Arthur (Ciampino). Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Ok.

Kauge (2127) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - OCT 31, 2017
Old notes. Bottle from Uba ja Humal, batch 1488, BB 12/2017. Nice juicy IPA with some of the classic hops making it citric, resiny and slightly pissy with a bit of a strawberry hint. Looks and feels like a good IPA, perhaps just a bit past its prime... Something's bothering me in the (slightly buttery?) dryish finish but overall I like it.

500 ml bottle, batch #1488, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7%. Cloudy golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Aroma of orange marmalade and piney hops, a hint of caramel. Moderate carbonation, nice mouthfeel. The flavour has a moderate sweetness with some caramel, followed by citrussy and resinous hops, good bitterness. A decent IPA. Might well buy again.

Jyrsa (969) - - OCT 7, 2017
Bottle. Light clearish orange with nature white head. Caramel, mango, citrus, grapefruit. Grapefruit, grass, hints of pale malt, not so much caramel I had expected. Pretty good but much more a hopped american pale ale than an IPA.

500 ml bottle. BB 09/2017. (Uba & Humal) Tallinn, Estonia.

Cloudy golden color with a small white head.
Fruity and floral hops, mild bitterness, mild sulphur and dryish malt in the aroma.
The flavor is floral hops, moderate bitterness, dryness and malt.
Quite easy. Well, it's not that fresh anymore.
