Alengrin (5788) - BELGIUM - OCT 25, 2017
Bottle shared by Erwin, cheers! Collaboration of Amager with Forest & Main, a brewery in Pennsylvania I never heard of. Apparently a saison hopped with New World varieties (Chinook, Citra, Mosaic). Very thick and frothy, dense, creamy, cobweb-lacing, stable, snow white head over a cloudy yellow blonde beer with pale greenish tinge. Aroma of lemon rind, molten butter (probably diacetyl), old dry Camembert cheese, sourdough, dried thyme, dried orange peel. Fruity onset, very unripe banana- and a bit starfruit-like with a sweetish peach note, some gooseberry-ish sourishness, fizzy carbonation. Cereally, even a bit grainy, clean 'white' bready malt body, pale lager-like but softened with that buttery aspect returning in the middle; long bittering finish, grassy and citrusy, wormwood leaf- and tonic water-like, quenching but somehow less exuberantly aromatic than I was expecting - yet this is intended as a saison and not an IPA of course, so I guess that makes sense (though one may wonder what is then the use of throwing in three of these New World varieties, seems like a bit of a waste really). The buttery flavour lingers. A tad too grainy and 'thinnish' for a modern saison, bit harsh perhaps, with that butteriness not really fitting in, but otherwise enjoyable enough.

bottle from boxbeers.com
pale clear yellow, white head.
yeasty, slightly herbal wild yeasty aroma with a noticeable bitter hoppy base to it also.
flavor is slightly herbal yeasty, somewhat wheat malty, slightly sweet, quite bitter hoppy, quite solid taste for a beer this low alc %. Although the taste is very solid, the beer still appears delicate and quenching.. good stuff. good quenching session-saison.

500ml bottle bought at Humlebua in Bodø. Stable white head over a pale golden body, near clear. Firm lacing. Peachy nose, inviting. Peachy taste as well, hints of lemon and pears. Mild citrus shells to the ending. Succulent fruity ending. Refreshing. Well made saison. (Shared with Liv, Kjell and Geir Bjørnar, Bodø 23.09.2017).

hawthorne00 (4149) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - SEP 25, 2017
Bottle. Gold with an enormous meringue-like head. Aroma of bitter oranges, hay, crackers, some cloves - smells much like a Belgian Blonde. A little sweeter than expected fro the aroma with quite rich pale malt for 4.2%. Some earthy notes. Only slightly funky. Dries out nicely and the spices seem a little more refined or better integrated at the moderately bitter finish.
