Bottle from Uba ja Humal in Tallinn (€ 4.90). Batch 916. BB 12.2015. Pours dark brown with a huge but fast receding big-bubbled tan head. Nose… lush, perfumey, tropical, musky, and only somewhat roasty, some burnt caramel maybe, hint of saltiness. Taste is equally bewildering with more of a roasty sweet character, with loads of strong bitterness in the finish, which is nicely balanced out by the lavish hops. Strangely, as someone else pointed out, there is a faint farmhouse moment in this. Which… I do like. Has way more body than the many recent Polish BIPA-s I’ve had - and I mean it’s pretty full. Then again, I would like a bit more of carbonation - here there’s nearly no hint of it, only when I take a big gulp I get some thin fizziness. Overall it’s still splendid. Tar black. Frothy tinted head. Flavor of dark chocolate and bitter coffee enhanced by lots of hops, There is molasses and smoke, hints of resin and dried figs. Rich in flavor, but not my favorite. Vestergaard (2089) - Aarhus C, DENMARK - FEB 13, 2015
Bottle. Pours a murky dark brown with a small brown head. Aroma has lots of fruity hops, roasty malts and some yeasty notes. Taste has sweeter fruits at first, but gets more bitter and hoppy with both fruity, coffee and roasty notes. Nice and refreshing. Medium carbonation and medium body.
