COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Look - A shade lighter than black body. Lacing. Tan, thin bubbled head. Unfiltered and sediment left in bottle. 4.25 Smell - Grass. Chocolate. Grapefruit. Burnt. Taste - More bitter than other black IPAs (compared to Uranus especially). Chocolate is lighter than chocolate. Light citrus. If you have made a stout, it tastes like the sediment after the first transfer. Feel - Smooth and medium bodied. A little of a milk stout feel. Overall - I found this in Dayton as it was not in Columbus. I was a little disappointed but the score shows it is a solid beer. Bottle labeling hints at a barrel aged beer and it is not. Black IPA is more IPA (on the straight bitter side, I am talking Rebel IPA here) than a hoppy stout.

Bottle. Teku glass. Pitch black, with huge, densed, light brown head. Medicore lacing. Good head retention. Aroma of dried black fruit, roasted malts, medium grassy, citrus and piney notes. High bitterness, flavour is piney, grapefruit, some roasted malts. Medium body, oily texture, medium carbonation. Finish is long and bitter.

Boutip (6433) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 4, 2015
Bottle: Poured a clear black color ale with a large dark brown foamy head with OK retention and some light lacing notes. Aroma of dry bitter roasted malt notes with some light green resin notes is OK. Taste is also a mix of roasted malt with light dry bitter notes with some light resin notes. Body is lighter then style average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I thought this beer was a bit short on hops flavors and thinner then I would have liked it to be.

kaser (6364) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 3, 2015
Graham cracker, biscuit and malty aroma. Maybe a little cinnamon. Mostly black pour from bottle at home. Creamy and foamy offwhite head. Spices, chocolate, malts, and nice hop profile. Silky mouth feel. Very tasty black IPA.

4.4
malrubius (2960) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - MAY 31, 2015
Bottle from Table and Vine. Near black with dense tan head and lace. Leafy citrus roasted nuts and chocolate milk aroma. Medium roasted coffee chocolate nuts and mild plummy fruit sweetness. Very dry finish. Bitter nutty with a hint of tangy citrus, maybe oats? Creamy chocolate milky texture. Absolutely delicious...and almost gone.
