COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Kita (2151) - Koper, SLOVENIA - MAY 16, 2015
UPDATED: JUL 8, 2016 Bottle, 0.50l and on tap & Hoppiness Beer Stop. Bottled version pours pitch black with medium soapy light brown head and yeasty particles floating. Aroma of tropical fruits, dried fruits, mild roasted malt and chocolate with raisins. Taste starts with sweet chocolate and mild roasted malt, follows by fresh grassy notes, mouthfeel is spicy and warming, while finish is bitter. Full body, oily texture and soft carbonation in palate. Draught version is similar, only aroma is even more pronounced with tropical character, while bitterness is even heavier than from bottle. Both editions are black as hell & heavenly good...

probstblueribbon (3791) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 14, 2015
500 ml bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. Batch 916, BBD 12/2015.

App.: Deep brown-black with ruby highlights and a nice light mocha head. Aroma: Quite resinous and dank, pungent citrus, light roasted malt character, a certain nasty (organic acid??) note, roastiness increases over time. Palate: Medium+ body, fairly high carbonation. Flav.: Still quite resinous with some light pine notes, deep citrus, roasted malts come through fairly well, a slight burnt hair thing and a bit of that unpleasant/barfy note; dry with fairly big bitterness, some alcohol and a long, mouth-coating finish.

Pretty good.

500ml bottle from Parker Pie. Pours a really dark brown, might as well say black, with a small cream-colored head that leaves nice lacing. Nose is of green hops, roasted malt and light licorice. Taste is lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Flavors of pine, roasted malt (but no ash) and that’s about it. No harshness whatsoever. Body is on the light side and carbonation moderately high. Overall it was really nice and enjoyable, I’d buy that again!

3fourths (9347) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - APR 28, 2015
Bottle-conditioned 500ml. Lightly hazed deep brown with a tall tan head of some retention. American hop impression is grass and resin, grapefruit and lychee. Esters are grape candy / purple drank. Malt is quiet chocolate and char and burnt biscuit with an odd note of sharp tire rubber. Velvety soft medium body, lightly sweet approach drying across the middle and back. It’s pleasantly savory but bitterness overpowers richness, and the drying, salty, bitter finish seems thin. Easy enough to mindlessly drink if you like rudely bitter beer, but I think showing the malt with more clarity would make for a better beer.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks kerenmk. Pours brown with a huge beige head. Smell of piney hops and roasted malt. Sweet malty flavors with notes of fruits, roast, caramel and soy, a bit salty, medium bitterness. Medium-bodied, dry aftertaste.

TimE (5817) - Tokyo, JAPAN - APR 21, 2015
Muddy brown color with tanned head. Big massive hoppy nose with lots of grapefruit and cotton candy jumping out. Big caramel, chocolate malt and toffee character give this beer a big malty balance. First sip is all hops though with tons of candied apples and grapefruit character. Very well made with both hop and malt characters well defined.
