COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
After long years of the beer community discussing hops to exhaustion, yeast is finally getting a glimpse of the spotlight following what seemed to be a lengthy Batman-like existence: outcast, living in the shadows, not getting enough credit for his work. However, the importance of fermentation is no news to Chad from Crooked Stave, a.k.a. the king of Hipsters, who has been fondling with various fermenting agents for longer than most people have been drinking. So it was that on a beautiful – yet excruciatingly hungover – Wednesday Mr Yakobsen came to Amager to bombard us simpletons with his knowledge on all things yeasty, and especially, bretty. Due to stubbornness from our end, we still insisted the brew carried a motherf#[email protected] of hops, despite intents of a brett forward beer. The answer to what ingredient won the battle lies within this bottle. But in our opinion, we are all winners.

On [email protected], Helsinki, Finland. Pours golden hazy. Little white head that stays. Aroma has leather & brett. Taste is supprisingly hoppy. Grass, tennis court, earth from the yeast. Very nice. Recommended.

Draught at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is very Belgian yeasty, peachy apricot fruits. The flavour is moderate sour with a smooth buttery yeast, tropical fruit, dry hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle, 500 ml at Pivoteka. Hazy golden, huge white head. Funky, yeasty, bit sourish. Spicy. Bitterish end. Dry. Soft texture. Nice.

This poured a golden color with a white head. The aroma is super funky with some band aids, lemons, vinegar, and diaper. Yes that. Lets hope the flavor isnt this overboard. Its not! A very dry Orval like flavor with some lemons, vinegar, and biscuit. The aftertaste is slightly bitter. Overall this like Orval with a bit of extra something in the funk category. I really enjoyed it. I will definitely prefer the taste vs smell. #omg

Bottled 500ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb. Pale golden coloured, medium sized white head, lemon and Brett in the nose. Sweetish malty, yeasty and spicy with slightly perfumed notes. Notes of Brett in rather dry yeasty finish. Pretty good.

50 cl. bottle @ Home. Aroma: quite intense and different aromas of yeast, spices, maybe white grapes, sour grapes, sour wine. Hints of malts in the background and some floral overtones. The white grapes aroma is the more noticeable. Appearance: light yellow straw color with low to medium hazyness. Perfectly white head, very creamy, with extremely high thickness and extremely high retention and medium to high Brussels' lacing. Taste: low sweetness, low bitterness, low to medium sourness. Flavors are very different, with white grapes, white wine, sour white wine, citrus. Hints of malts, spices. Very well balanced, the sour flavors are the more noticeable but all the sweetness, bitterness and sourness are very well blended. Palate: low to medium body, watery to oily texture, low to medium carbonation, very long dry finish with low bitterness and low to medium sourness and flavors of white grapes, sour white wine, sour white grapes, spices, citrus and floral overtones. Alcohol is not noticeable at all. Overall: aromas are quite different and a little bit weird, but pleasant. Appearance is good. Flavors are very different too, but not unpleasant at all, grapes, sour white wine, white wine, spices, citrus, floral nuances. Very well balanced, the sourness is not harsh nor overwhelming. I think a bit more of body would improve this beer, but overall is a good one. The wild yeast is so dominant that it doesn't let the hops to be noticeable. Very complex.

8/IX/17 - 50cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte), shared @ home with Alengrin - BB: XI/2018 (2017-1484)

Clear blonde to light orange beer, big creamy irregular white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very dirty, urinals, very funky, bit of artificial brett. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very funky, very bitter, slightly fruity, unpleasant bitterness, pretty soapy, weird. Aftertaste: artificial brett, urinals, very unpleasant, dry finish. Definitely not my stile of beer...

Lichtgeel bier met schuim, wat uit de fles omhoog spuit. Smaak is bitter hoppig, licht zuur en fruitig met iets van gember en kardemon. Aparte niet onaardige smaak.

CanCrusher (1189) - Ilirska Bistrica, SLOVENIA - OCT 29, 2017
Bottle 0,50L. Hazy yellow color with small, frothy, white head. Strong funky aroma, wild yeasts, horse blanket, barnyard. They put a lot of aromatic hops in this beer, but I can't find much of it in aroma. Taste starts light bitter with a lot of horse blanket and finishes moderate bitter. Wild yeasts are overhelming and spoil this beer a bit, imo. I felt like drinking an ale in a barnyard full of horses (shit)...
