UPDATED: JAN 21, 2016 Last bottle, same batch as the older rating. Pitch Black with small beige head. Aroma has wood, syrup and roasted malt. Flavour has dark chocolate, cocoa, licorice notes. Strong and warming alcohol. Perhaps a bit oxidised. Still 2 years until BBD, but this one probably peaked some time ago. Older rating, 2014: Black with small beige ring. Chocolate aroma. Flavour has more choc, roasted bitterness, wood. Clear, warming alcohol. Smooth mouthfeel. 747317

Bottle, 11.5%. Very vinous, and very barrelled aroma. Black colour. Very small light brown head. The flavour is also very vinous, has a bit of vanilla. Quite boozy with a distinct alcohol bitterness, but quite good. The flavour is actually quite fruity, has a sort of dark berry note.

Bottle @ D-Day in Mojnlandet :-) Pours cloudy very dark brown with small tan head. Dark aroma of malt, caramel, coffee and oak barrel. Bitter, roasty flavour, with sweet notes of caramel malt and touches of coffee. Discernible notes of barrel. Bitter aftertaste with roasty overtones. Warming alcohol presence. Good.

Marstonlad (885) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 27, 2014
Bottle from Janoinen Lohi, Helsinki. Pours black with a non-existant head. Aroma displays well the oak barrel elements such as vanilla, whiskey, sherry and licorice. Taste is dryish and roasty and offers some variety but unfortunately also shows that the best before date has passed long ago. The hops are completely gone and the palate too light and thin for this style. Licorice and vanilla are too dominant; there is not enough depth or length in the taste. Not ruined totally but still far from the level it should be.

nimbleprop (8382) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - FEB 16, 2014
25cl bottle #2107. Pours an oily dark brown/black with some spitty, wispy brown head. Nose has a lot of booze, port, dark chocolate, cherry cordial, a little soy, toast, earthy red grape. Flavor is interesting, quite thin, licorice, oily, chocolate, raisin, soy, a little toasted sesame. Thin finish. A bit over aged.

Big thanks to Geokkjer, Meilby, and yngwie! Pours a deep brown color with a small beige head. The nose is oak, maple syrup, and dark fruits, almost prunes, and some caramel. The palate is ashy, woody, roasty, with bitter chocolate and dusty mouthfeel. Medium body, off dry finish.

Huge thanks to Geokkjer, Meilby, and yngwie for sharing this bottle! Black in color with a bit of khaki head on top. Dark fruit forward nose on this one. Roasted malt, coffee, ash, and whiskey. Oak, some dark chocolate, and toffee. Flavor is a bit on the bitter side. Lots of roasted malt, some charred oak, coffee, and dark fruits. Dark chocolate, a hint of ash, whiskey, and maybe a touch of smoke.
