English: Flemish Red - maybe it sounds more like a high yielding dairy breed than a beer, but there is no milk to be found in the contents of this bottle.
Flemish Red is a historic Belgian beer, which we here at Amager Brewery are proud to present in our experimental series of beers. With its clear character after seven months maturing in used French Bordeaux barrels and its pronounced acidity, it is a beer for exquisite and discerning palates.
In the glass Dicentra Cucullaria is a beautiful reddish brown with a lively bubbly beige head. The aroma with its refreshing acidity has been clearly influenced by the French red wine barrels. The taste is dominated by dry tart fruit - tart but never sour. In the finish there is a fine blend of acidity combined with the pleasant dryness from the hops.
Brewed using: Amarkansk municipal water, German and Viennese crystal malt, East Kent Goldings hops and English yeast cultures.
Ingredients: Water, barley malt, hops and yeast/culture

Bottle. Pours a darker red color with an off white head. Aroma has lots of vinous notes, red grapes, oak, some balsamic vinegar, darker cherry and darker fruits and subtle funk. The flavor is again really vinous with red grapes, oak, wine gum, darker cherry, subtle funk and tartness. The body is medium with a dry mouth feel. Overall a pretty good Sour.

[email protected] Deep red clear. Huge red winey french oaky nose, med bodied, light soft tartness, red berries, oxidized wine, oak. Really nice flavours. A bit thin in intensity, but really like the flavour. Not that beery, but for a wine lover..

375ml Bottle - Dark brown/red in colour. Cherries, wood and fruitcake in the aroma. The taste is initially quite sharp and tart but then gives way to sweetness and notes of cherries, plums, oak and raisins.

0,375l bottle @ Pikkulintu. Pours cloudy brown with a low head. Aroma is quite sour and acidic malts. Flavor is sour malts with some acidic notes. Strange, but quite good.

Countbeer (6591) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - AUG 17, 2014
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: 6.5%ABV. Small lively creamy beige light brown head on top of a deep dark brown colored beer. Aromas of darker wood, some prunes/raisin, berries, some brown sugars, yeast, hint of manure/trash, light fishy (toko), light vinous, some marzipan and toast. Flavours of grapes, berries, yeast, some cream, wood (darker), manure, malts, some sugars/sweets, bitters, light vinous, light tart and some slight hints of brown sugars. Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, berries, light tart, light dry, light wood and some yeast with a woody edge. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, more than medium bodied and a creamy light tart texture.

Bottle. Pours hazy red amber with virtually no head. Aroma is oak, red wine, tart fruit, toffee, lactic, fatty and phenols. Taste is near moderate sweet, moderate bitter and light+ tart. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Finishes dry, dusty and bitter with rough tart vinegar in the late finish.

Bottle thanks to phredrik, shared with Amalie & co. at the great Fermentoren. Slightly muddy red-brown with small head and good carbonation given the age (four years?). Aroma is fantastic, approaching RR Consecration with a little of the bleu-cheese funk of Odell Friek: bright raspberry, sour cherry, intense red wine barrel, Brett, lemon, balsamic, cheese. Taste is much simpler but very pleasant: raspberry jam, lemon, oak. Balanced and not too sour. Very tasty.

Backlog. Not as good as their neighbours Norrebros sours i’ve tried, but still a very decent beer. Not enough micro-sours being made!

Koelschtrinker (20591) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - FEB 10, 2014
Säuerlich bitterer Antrunk, dumpf. Die trockene Säuerlichkeit intensiviert sich, dezente Kirschnoten. Rund, zum Ende zu mild. Gut. 11/10/11/10/11/11

KingCecil (2085) - DENMARK - DEC 22, 2013
Bottle @ home It pours murky light brown/reddish with a medium tan head... Tart, light dusty, dry, yeast, fruity, oak, vine, vinous, citrus…. really nice!

humlelala (1375) - DENMARK - JUN 7, 2013
(sample from 37,5 cl bottle at tasting with Kasper, Sandra and Mark) Pours a cloudy amber with medium tan head. Aroma is a nice subtly tart, red grape. Slightly watery texture, medium carbonation and a slightly tart and slightly sweet finish. Flavour is less full and savoury than the aroma sadly.
