In short: A well malted Black IPA well balanced by citrusy and coniferous hops. Very good
How: Bottle 500ml at Haket bar och sån´t, Göteborg Sweden. More than 1.5 year before expiration date but according to ratebeer this is already quite old. Didn’t taste old
The look: Black body topped by a medium tan head with a good retention
In long: Nose is surprisingly hoppy and fresh considering this is supposedly not a fresh beer. Plenty of coniferous hops with fudge funnel cake in the back. Taste has a very nice moderately roasted malty body that almost steals the spotlight away from the hopping. Tasty freshly baked brownies and freshly baked fudge funnel cake is what comes to mind. Nice hopping too and I suspect that when fresh it may have been too overwhelming. The bottle I drank was just perfectly balanced by coniferous and bitter grapefruits hops adding a sharp bitterness with a medium bitterness intensity. Textbook example of the style. I decided to buy this bottle in a Swedish pub when I saw it had good ratings, travelling is a really great way to search the ratebeer database in exotic locations.
Bottle @ home. Aged 4 years. And yes, it does age very well. It has by now a gentle vinous character of raisins and sweet plums. A sharp coffee like bitterness. flavor and aromas of licorice chocolate, orange marmalade, Grape fruit, caramel. Some alcohol. BrianWillum (237) - Præstø, DENMARK - JAN 26, 2015

Backlog. Dominated by coffee, dried fruits, licorice, dark bread some pine and smoke. Svesse (8580) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - FEB 9, 2014
(Bottle) Very dark brown colour, almost black, with lasting frothy beige head. Malty, roasted, hoppy nose with notes of liquorice, strong black coffee, black rye bread, pine needles, treacle and resinous hops. Malty, roasted, hoppy taste with strong black coffee, liquorice, dark chocolate, resin, pine needles, black rye bread, a touch of soy sauce and a solid, piney bitterness in a finish with a certain sweetness shining through. Almost full body, fairly sweet. Very tasty and quite bitter. Very nice. POLK (2219) - Hørning, DENMARK - SEP 23, 2012
160311: Black IPA with a fine brown foam. Nice hop aroma. Taste of lots of hops, toasted malt and smoke. burg326 (5479) - Florida, USA - SEP 2, 2012
50cl bottle poured a dark brown almost black color, with aromas of light chocolate, light roast, with some light citrus. Flavors are the same, light bitter afttertaste, nice beer over all the roast and citrus blend nicely. kiwianer (3428) - Otorohanga, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 30, 2012
The head is robust, the body black. It smells hoppy, aromatically malty. The taste is full of varieties of malt, sweet, roasty and candis are the main flavours of this part. Also it is of course intensiv hoppy especially in the middle part. In the aftertaste it is not any more that intensiv hoppy, but roasty and dark malty. Very nice and interesting! 13/11/10/11/12/11 Lilja (3140) - Malmö, SWEDEN - MAY 21, 2012
Mycket beska men faktiskt mindre än väntat, välbalanserad. olio (10168) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 19, 2012
50 cl bottle.

Pours dark red, almost black color with light head. Aroma of very strong hops, tangy but still quite pleasant, some liquorice also. Flavor of roasted malts, could have more though, liquorice, pine and some syrup notes. Quite nice brew altogether.
