COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle. Dark brown opaque body, small chocolate head with poor retention and some lacing. Aroma of wood charcoal, chocolate, licorice, smoked prunes and anise. Taste of dark chocolate, caramel, rye bread toast, licorice, coffee and some woodsy notes. Intense yet light.

Bottle from LCBO. Pours a fairly small frothy brownish appearance. Has a deep dark brown appearance. Weak lacing. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, cocoa and rye. Flavours are pretty much similar to aromas, lots of coffee and rye notes, some sweet malts and earthy hints. Slick and oily mouthfeel. Lively carbonation. Quite easy going. Very good!

Bottle. If you hear an owl hoot "to whom" instead of "to who", you can make up your mind that he was born and educated in Boston.

Freaky_tiki (1358) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 20, 2017
Bottle from LCBO. Pours end of the world dark with hardly any foam to show for it. Fantastic stuff: dark roast espresso, complex grains, rich flavours, deep chunky hop presence & a nice dry finish. This is hitting most of my sweet spots. Thick & an unexpected prickly mouthfeel. Hope I remember to buy this beauty again.

Tranquillity (2508) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 17, 2017
Bottled. Opaque black body, medium dark brown head. Aroma of smoke and malt. The taste is syrupy with a good sense of malts and peat.

DerWeg (1713) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 13, 2017
Insanely dark dense pour from bottle plops thickly into glass producing a large thick head of espresso crema-color foam. So much malt and char goodness. Like good German sourdough dark bread plus anise and some toffee / molasses / coffee / chocolate-covered roasted nuts. Hint of smoky roast and sour accents. There's a lot going on here and a thick feel that is not boringly sugar-sticky. A stunning creation.

Spab (4081) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 12, 2017
500 ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours an inky nearly black colour with moderate-sized mocha-coloured head. Aroma is quite dark with anise, charcoal, coffee and rye. Flavour has charred graininess, licorice, coffee, some spicy rye and a little dark fruitiness. Medium-full body. Quite nice.
