3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 375ml corked. More or less black, with a small, dense, light tan head. Very vinous aroma, borderline booze-ish. Coffee, roasted malts and molassess too. Full-bodied, warming and smooth on the palate. Very dry-ish, yet there’s lot of sweetness going on. Some woody hints. Lots of berries too. Warming, roasted finish Well, it’s certainly a nice beer, but I think the impact from the wine barrel is too big. 130516

Nice light brown slightly bubbly-creamy shortlasting head. Aroma is dry mineraly, weeds, oak, minerals, dark malts, bark, burnt caramel, booze, spices, burnt sugar. Taste is slightly sour-ish dry, dark malts, sour grass, oak, dark sugar, dark berries, licorice, sour coffee, bark, minerals, weeds, burnt sugar. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mineraly mouthfeel. Fair enough.
Bottle, shared with BBGTC. Deep brown-black body with a tiny off-white head. Nose is chocolate, alcohol, cocoa, red wine, wood and hints of vanilla, dark chocolate, chalk and nuts. Taste is dry chalky tones, wood, ashes, cocoa, burnt sugar, dark chocolate, red wine and hints of minerals, alcohol, ashes and faint caramel. Medium to light body, soft carbonation. A very nice beer, but the harshness of the barrel tones, light body and burnt/roasty notes in the flavor indicates that the years could have been kinder to this one. 0.375l corked bottle from #267 shared with The Tasting Crew. Smells lovely this. Intense dark, filled with dark sweet marshmallows, marzipan, a rush of sweet raisin the slightly burnt kind, a hefty coffee thickness and a decent amount of alcohol also in this lovely blend of aromas. It doesn’t really have too much of a head, have to force a film on this and it’s deep dark brown looking in the glass. It’s also kinda wood dry - in a good way on the nose. Let’s taste it: tastes quite good also. Almost a little wood tart or even sourish. It’s nice thick and oily the mouth and it’s soft but still a little prickling on the bubbles. Dark bitter chocolate, lots of slightly drymouthing flavors here. The more I sip at it, the more I’m enjoying it. Nice! 04.08.2016 Klimaet (2878) - Aarhus N, DENMARK - JUL 19, 2016

Sample from 375 ml. bottle. Dark brown colour with a thin, lightly tanned head. Fruity aroma with red wine barrel, dark malts, roasted, vanilla, dark, dried fruits, caramel malts. Taste is sweet. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and a soft/flat carbonation. Finishes dry and vinous with roasted malts. Lovely barrel ageing. However, I prefer the original. Flaske, 375 ml, tak Papsø. Let uklar mahogni-farvet, let lyst beige skum.

Clear dark brown beer, irregular beige head, bit stable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of alcohol hitting the nose, bit chemical, caramel, bit of vanilla, more vanilla even on warming up. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bit sour, very roasted, bitter, soem caramel, tannins, sweet, bit sugary, alcohol, red wine. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, very fruity, mocha, coffee, red wine tannins, dark chocolate.
Bouteille 37.5cl de Systembolaget Malmö en 2012. BB 2022, batch# 267.
