Bottle at home, thanks to an IP trade with Christian, 20/10/14. Dark mahogany brown with a decent light tan head that dissipates and retains as a covering. Nose is rich caramel, light hoppy pangs, sweet licks, leather, tobacco, earthy. Taste comprises rich dark fruits, leather, tobacco, toffee, candied fruit rinds, subtle bourbon wash, earthy cocoa rub. Medium + body, fine carbonation, lightly warming booze in the close. Solid BA barley wine, has held up well, complex, drinkable and doesn’t come across too boozey.

Botella de 33 cl... Gran cortesía de Cimmeria. 07-04-2013.

Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this bottle. Pours an orange brown with an off-white head. The aroma has some harsh hop notes as well as some toffee. The flavor is different than the aroma. I get a lot of cherries and other dark fruit, as well as some toffee and caramel malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

25cl bottle thanks to Papsoe. (bb2010) Dark brown color with thin head. Taste is medium bitter, sweet and light sour. Carbonation is soft. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, alcohol, mushrooms, dried fruits, light vinegar... maybe too old? I prefered the Kølle...

Bottle @ 2nd tuesday tasting. Best before 2010. Pours hazy orange with a small fading white head. Aroma is sweet malts, licorice, vanilla and bourbon. Taste is licorice, sweet malts, oxidation and some bourbon.

Bottle bbd September 2010. Clear brown pour, small tanned head. Aroma is of leather, tobacco and light bourbon notes. Flavor is very sweet, malty and there is definitely some oak in there. Quite nice, but I guess this is too old.

Bottle at the May De Molen monthly tasting. Poured a murky dark brown with a very thin off white head. The aroma is rich fruity resinous and alcoholic. The flavour is strong liquorice bitter, some sweetness, a little coffee and some dry sawdust in the palate. Rather nice to taste, but I’m not sure I’d buy a bottle.

Bottle @ De Molen. Smells caramel, tastes banana, caramel, bourbon all together. Soft aftertaste, remarkably light given its alcoholic graduation.

deanso (10277) - Chiang Mai, THAILAND - MAY 14, 2013
Sample at the molen monthly tasting. Very thin head. Slightly hazy amber pour. A bit oxidised. nice brew
