COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Didrik Crappe was a Copenhagen lad who set sail to Tranquebar in the early 19th Century to establish a herring meal factory in this exotic Danish colony. He suffered terribly from indigestion because of his mothers home cooking, esp. her extremely spicy chicken curries that he was forced to eat several times a week. Some historians maintain that the whole business of founding a herring meal factory was just an excuse to get away from his mothers pots and pans. There is a legend saying that Didrik posted himself in the bow of the clipper carrying him away from his beloved hometown, and exclaimed "No more rice and curry for this fair Dane!" But the story has a happy end. Thanks to the fine lager brewed locally in Tranquebar, Didriks indigestion was cured, and in fact he soon established his own brewery out there, creating a beer so tasty that rumors of it flew all the way back to Denmark. Perhaps the herring meal was the secret ingredient that distinguished Didriks brew from all others. Anyhow, soon clippers carrying nothing but barrels of his product were leaving Tranquebar for Copenhagen every day of the week. Thus the Indian Pale Lager was born.

A crisp and dry Pale Lager with a base of only pilsener malts. Hopped and dry-hopped with Amarillo, Cascade and Citra. No rice or curry was added.

50cl bottle thank to Papsoe. Cloudy clear gold color with thin to medium white head. Carbonation is nice and soft. Lovely aroma! Herbs, tropical fruit, hop aroma. This is truly an indian pale ale with a lager yeast. Good job Henrik!

Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is grainy malt, fruity notes, hay, grass, citrussy hops, soft tropical fruits with some floral notes. Flavour is only lightly sweet with a nice medium bitter and fairly dry finish. Body is medium. Pretty great, an exemplary Lager, I could drink a whole keg of this stuff.

Hot Lager Stuff. AMAGER Shop in Kastrup,DK.

Great story to this beer. And yes indeed for all and intents and purposes looks and smells like a modest IPA. I guess to say this makes this beer a great lager is a bit of a backhanded compliment but the fact remains it is very good (for a lager). Hops are very herbal with no real bitterness to speak of and the palate is quite broad, which in itself is unusual for IPA flavours.

Light opalescent golden colour with a small pillowy white head. Aromas of hay, pale malt and a lovely touch of grassy-orange grapefruit note develops. Light tangy with a crisp texture and slender body. Briskly sweet with a nice fruity hop bite. Moderate finish, well balanced - a quaffer!

50cl bottle from Alko. Pours bright golden, bit hazy with white soft two-finger head. Head retention not very good though. Nose is fresh, hops, citrus, and well, lager. Moderate bittering, light body and floral hops. Carbonation is moderate too. Easy, drinkable lager.

Yellow gold-white foam. Aroma presence of moderate pilsener malt and hops with hints of grass, citrus, orange and yeast. The palate is light with harmony between the sweetness of malt and hops notes of tropical fruit like pineapple, citrus peel or pine. Aftertaste of pleasant bitterness. The body is medium, the texture is fat, carbonation is smooth.
