Wow! This was one powerful brew. I enjoyed it on cask at Tap and Mallet. Definitely the smoothest beer I’ve ever had. It’s a bit like chewing on a coffee bean, though. The nose and flavor is like drinking straight espresso in beer form, but darker and more bitter. There was some dark chocolate in the bouquet as well. It exhausts the palate quickly, that’s for sure. Beware, it’s pretty strong and packs quite a punch. laiti (8513) - Tampere, FINLAND - JAN 21, 2012

Aroma has licorice, rye and hints of coffee. Thick palate. Flavour is rich with licorice and rye. This one had a lots of elements I love in this beer style. At the bottom of the bottle we detected one of the largest yeast particles I’ṿe seen. And the bottom 5 cl were very murky with yeast.

Licorice and salmiac, this is even better than I remembered!

Very dark brown. Thin head and a very roasty aroma. Smooth, soft palate with some rye chewiness in an otherwise dry finish. Some subtle orchard fruits break up the intensity in a way that does not disrupt the balance. Beershine (5253) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 12, 2012
Draft @ Avenue Pub. Black and scattered tan lace. Nice inky aroma. Dark chocolate, coal, asphalt. Lovely palate. The rye malts add depth and chewiness. Cola nut. Black cherry. Licorice finish. Mellow. Roast, lots, but not burnt. Complex and very good. Suttree (6504) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - JAN 7, 2012
As Amager Rye Porter. Black, with a thick, frothy brown head. Smells really tasty - toasted rye read, coffee and a little bit of dark chocolate. . Flavor is a really nice mix of sweet and dry - oak, chocolate, some vague fruity notes as it warms. Dry, woody finish. An excellent drinking experience all around...

Very dark brown beer, creamy brown head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: lots of caramel, mocha, cocoa powder, some alcohol. MF: good carbon, full body. Taste: coffee, dark caramel, chocolate, bitter hops, red fruits. Aftertaste: coffee, mocha, caramel, bitter hops. Pretty rich and intense!
Svart. Kjempehøyt kremaktig skum med litt brunfarge. Skummet klistrer seg til glasset. Pent! Lakrisaroma. Fyldig smak: Frukt & lakris. Syrlig fruktig ettersmak hvor lakrissmaken vedvarer. Et utmerket øl!
