COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Cain is said to have murdered his brother out of envy. At Amager Bryghus we believe that murder is taking things a bit far. However, we admit to being envious because we weren’t the first brewer to come up with the beer style we admire the most: a crisp and hopped up West Coast IPA. We won’t kill anybody because we didn’t come up with the idea first, instead we present to you “Envy” - our take on this style. Humble – yet envious.
We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

Brewed from: Pilsener and Munich malts. Hopped with Amarillo, Simcoe and Centennial and fermented with an American ale yeast.

UPDATED: AUG 5, 2014 New rating August 5th 2014: (50 cl bottle from the brewery; Batch 831; BBD: July 2015) Pours a semi-clear golden with two finger creamy head with some large bubbles in the middle. Good retention and beautiful lace. Aroma is hoppy, sprucy with citrus notes. Oily texture, medium body, medium carbonation and a dry, bitter finish. Flavour has more of the green spruciness with a good degree of bitterness. Original Rating March 25th 2013: (50 cl bottle from Toft Vin; batch 579; bbd: march 2014) Pours a hazy golden with medium, white head that has decent retention and nice lace. Decent regeneration. Pleasant, fresh hoppy aroma with notes of pine and citrus fruits. Oily texture, soft carbonation, medium body with a dry, bitter finish. Taste is moderately bitter and resiny with little sweetness. Good and well defined. Less eager to please than the Kåååd but more crisp. Girlfriend says: "It’s very bitter towards the end." A: 8; Ap: 4; Fl: 7; Pa: 4; O: 15

23-MAR-2013, bottle @home, from the brewery. My #1000 Danish rating. Unclear, golden, lasting, white, creamy head. Hoppy aroma with citrus, grape fruit, pine, and a little exotic fruit. Taste is grape fruit, pine, toast, orange. Really, really bitter from the first time it hits the mouth. Thin’ish body at first but turns medium with some warmth. Carbonation is medium as well. Long bitter aftertaste. Fine very bitter IPA.
