COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Cain is said to have murdered his brother out of envy. At Amager Bryghus we believe that murder is taking things a bit far. However, we admit to being envious because we weren’t the first brewer to come up with the beer style we admire the most: a crisp and hopped up West Coast IPA. We won’t kill anybody because we didn’t come up with the idea first, instead we present to you “Envy” - our take on this style. Humble – yet envious.
We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

Brewed from: Pilsener and Munich malts. Hopped with Amarillo, Simcoe and Centennial and fermented with an American ale yeast.

venom666 (1063) - Elche, Alicante, SPAIN - APR 3, 2016
Pours a slightly hazy golden color with medium white head. Aroma is grepefruity, citrusy, piney and resiny, slightly dank and dry. Taste follows the aroma, tropical fruits, sweet citrus fruits, pine and yeast, with a very marked bitter aftertaste.

Bamsen78 (5538) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - MAR 20, 2016
Bottle. Pours clear amber with stable creamy off-white head. Clear aroma of fruit and citrus, with hoppy and malty notes. Intense, bitter, hoppy flavour with crisp, citric notes and round, sweetish touches of fruit (orange peel?) and malt and some estery hints. Lingering, bitter, hoppy aftertaste with citric notes and estery hints. Medium to high carbonation. Well-balanced and decent.

Bottle from State Line. Pours hazy dark straw with frothy white head. Nose was hops, pine nuts, yeast, apricot, white pepper. Tastes complex, with notes of piney hops, mild yeast, apricot, peach, white pepper, and a complex finish. Solid.

6.5%ABV.  IPA. Poured out of the bottle a light Amber.  10ºSRM. Nose is floral brightness to it like freesias or magnolias.   The citrus character is bright and sweet and all about a beautiful ripe tangerine on the tree. Mouthfeel is soapy.   Palate has nice toasted malt, wheat toast, Wonder bread, caramel, burnt sugar, hard candy sweetness,  Hops are vegetal, pine, resin, sap and an almost rubber band like bitterness.  Finish is long and hyssop bitter. Goes on Favorites List!

ALIBALI (2396) - Kiel, GERMANY - FEB 1, 2016
Da muss kein Neid aufkommen. Rundum gelungen.

Kita (2210) - Koper, SLOVENIA - DEC 31, 2015
Bottle, 0.50l, shared with Boyan. Clear golden color with thin creamy white head, poor lacing and average sparkling appearance. Aroma is not intense, but tropical fruits and citrus dominate, while some floral and piney characteristics also present. Taste starts with light sweet caramel malt, following is fruity and resinous, while finish is heavy bitter. Medium body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. No need to be envious about this beer, because Amager made many better IPA’s...

Bottle at home (batch 950, best before 01/2016). Pours clear golden amber with a white frothy head. Aroma of malts, hops, hay, hint of peach and citrusy fruitiness, probably a lot more pronounced fresh. Taste is bitter sweet, malts, resiny hops, hay, very dry bitter ending. Hoppy bitter, malty, aftertaste. Not bad, like to try this one fresh.

McWorta (1633) - LUXEMBOURG - DEC 9, 2015
Clear golden-orange (8EBC) with a frothy off white head, good lacings and somewhat viscous. Aromas of orange-grapefruit zest, pine, dank grass predominate yet subtle notes of herbal passion-fruit with a brisk caramel-hay undertone develops offering a hunch of young pineapple. A well balanced fine carbonation with a texture developping from light and thin to light velvety. Offers a pronounced yet elegant body. Some caramelised fruit sweetness up front builds the scene for a solid yet harmonic piney, resinous, fruity hop bitterness with a pleasant astringency. Lasting sweet-bitter and dry finish. Crisp and refreshing.
