COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Danish: Saisoner er in. Saisoner er hippe. Simpelthen.

English: Saisons are in. Saisons are hip. It’s as simple as that. So far, no one has come up with a good explanation as to why this very traditional Belgian farmhouse style has suddenly skyrocketed in popularity amongst the in- crowd of the beer geek nation. Except, of course, for the fact it’s simply a very delicate drink in all of its refined simplicity. But we’ve committed a sin. We couldn’t resist. We poured our Amager Saison variety into a barrel. We hope the soft tannins from the wood and the noble Pinot Noir grapes add a juicy extra twist. By doing so, we may bring the wrath of Saison fundamentalists upon ourselves. But frankly, we don’t give a damn!
We’re not proud to be sinners, but at least we’re open about it…

KnutAlbert (6798) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 14, 2012
On tap at CBC.
Hazy brown.
The saison and the red wine do not blend very well IMHO. Some oaky dryness that kills the fruit you recognize underneath.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2012 Rerate, 500 ml bottle, batch#427, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Amber to copper colour, large to moderate off-white head. Basically the same impression as from first sample. Refreshing and very drinkable , not too sweet. Original rating: Sample at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Amber colour. Aroma and flavour of saison yeast, mild spices, oak and red wine, decent hops in the finish.

JanLaursen (3226) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAY 13, 2012
UPDATED: SEP 18, 2012 Draught at CBC. Light hazy red brown with a short but foamy beige head. Aroma is caramel, vineous, a little wood, indifferent hoppy notes. Taste is sweet, medium bitter, a little spices with some sweet-sour grapey notes. And tannins too, giving the beer a rough mouthfeel. Not much saison here, but barrels - definitely. Too sweet for my palate. Guess I am a Saison fundamentalist....

2.5
gyllenbock (9995) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 12, 2012
On tap at Ølfestival 2012.

Dark amber with a small head. This beer was a bit strange. Not balanced with spices, yeast, wood and some sour notes. Nothing that I must drink again.
