Bottle pour. Lightly hazed orange with a small white head. Orange and banana esters with sweet malt and a fair amount of yeast sludginess. Very effervescent and phenolic and spicy with a lot of white pepper and tart banana / oranges. The toast / bread quality of the malt comes through in a bigger way here than in the rose or ginger versions (this beer being the base of the other two). Medium body, medium sweetness, lively carbonation, medium to high acid. Could be cleaner and brighter. presario (4916) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - APR 8, 2012
Bottle. Dark amber with a big head that requires a patient pour. Light scent with traces of honey but you have to inhale deeply to catch any spice. Nice soft honey flavour with growing warm spice notes. Not extreme or funky but believable for a summer work refresher. cmonster (1000) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 21, 2011
Bomber served in a tulip. Very hazy golden peach, large off-white head. Good retention and lacing. Big bright yeasty nose. Some fruit, but distinctly dry. Light-medium sweet flavor profile. Light body, thin texture, good carbonation, and a light bitter, dry, and warming finish. Gooney (389) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 16, 2011
750mm bottle - pours a light orange with a nice foamy white head. Aroma of orange and honey. Melon? Very smooth with a pleasant dancing on the tongue. Tastes a bit sour, bit in a good way. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAY 1, 2011
Bottle:   Deep dirty straw, cloudy, moderate sudsy white head, spotty lacing.   Pale wheat aroma, slightly musty, a touch of citrus zest.   Similar tongue, a little dull and dank, some basement mustiness.   I think of Goldens as a little sharper Blonde Ale, a bit more bite.   This one isn’t very sharp at all.   I do get a slight hint of honey and fresh bread on the nose.   Dull sweet malty start on the tongue, musty like honey, pale breadiness.   Hop aspect is minor.   If this is a Belgian Ale, its missing most of the Belgian qualities.   I guess the only aspect is a bit of mustiness.   This is a bit of an odd duck.   Just seems like a soft sweet wheaty pale bready beer, with a very minor funk and hint of honey.   Not very bubbley on the tongue, a bit flat.   Tiz okay, but doesn’t capture me.
