Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours dark brown/black, but it has ruby notes when viewed against light. Three-finger foamy tan head. Aroma of really darkly roasted malt with perhaps anise and/or chocolate. The nose is a little complicated. Medium plus body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is smooth dark roasted malt. It is sweet. Nutty. Dark fruit. Cough syrup. Chocolate and dates or figs. Lots going on. Finishes dark, rather syrupy and sweet. Nice winter drink.

imdownthepub (14552) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 26, 2009
Bottled, 500ml at The Katedra Pub, Krakow. Black with tan head. Thick treacle tarry beer enjoyed in a distinctly odd pub, there is coffee, roasty notes with chocolate bitterness, alcohol and liquorice. Champagne Supernova by Oasis was being played and it seemed entirely in keeping, this seemed like a Supernova and took me ages to get through.

500ml bottle. PO 3/5. A gusher. It pours a dark black with ruby on the edges and a foamy tan head. The smell is basically chocolate milk with some dark fruit. The flavor continues this flavor. I think this is a beer that would appeal to a large audience. It is mildly roasty and mostly just like a really decadent chocolate dessert or cake.

Rune (12753) - Tromsø, NORWAY - APR 11, 2010
500ml from Bestillingsutvalget, Vinmonopolet. Lots of small dimples to a frothy and fawn coloured head, displaying a solid stand. Deeply, near-black in the glass with a brownish shade if held to the light. Aroma of dark malts, containing coffee and anise. Fine blended flavour of dark chocolate and earthy malts with an integrated backdrop of dark fruits. Subdued sweetness and alcohol. Gets a bit grainy after an hour in the glass, otherwise well rounded to the palate and pleasant to drink (Tromsø, 10.04.2010).
