COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
Our much-lauded ’Original’ is a self-styled traditional stout. Made with a complex blend of five malts to give a full-flavoured, yet smooth and easy drinking base and bittered with a blend of Saaz, Fuggle and Styrian Goldings for a subtle hop aroma.

Had this at The Tabot, Amber Brewery Tap, Ripley, Derbyshire consumed either at festival site or nearby Golden Valley campsite 26.07.13 Pours very dark brown, perhaps a little thin but I really, really like this. Some watery spent coffee grains, a good roastiness, simple, decent, non fussy stout. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.4

Fra cask på Euston Tap 19 Mai 11. Svart. Lavt kremaktig skum. Behagelig kaffearoma. Smaken litt tynn men en aner kaffe, lakris og sjokolade. Tørr, røstet malt i ettersmaken.

[email protected] Tap, London. More or less black colour with a small beigeish brown head, that settles quite quickly. Aroma is chocolate, some nutty notes, mild roasted malts as well as some slight liquorice and also mild floral and wooden notes. Flavour is chocolate, roasted malts, some toffee, nutty notes as well as some bitter hoppyness lurking in the background. Pleasantly balanced.

Cask conditioned at The Talbot (Amber Ales Brewery Tap), Ripley, Derby’s. Black with tan head. Full of deep roaste malty notes giving a bitterness and drying effect but still remaining relatively smooth. Nicely set up and pretty enjoyable.

Cask, air pressure, half pint at Euston Tap. Tan-coloured, low head that lasted for a while. Black coloured body with a deep, brownish shade. Smell of sweet dark malts with an espresso-like tint. Earthy malts, coffee and chocolate in flavour offset by bitter malts towards the ending. Easy to drink and easy to like (London, 31.07.2011).
