A dark Bière de Garde. Creamy off white head. Aroma of spices and earth. Sweet flavour with notes of caramel and spices.
Süßlich-neutraler Antrunk. Dabei scharf alkoholisch. Der Hauptteil ist muffig-chemisch, malzig-süßlich. Im Nachgeschmack muffig, sehr komisch alkoholisch. 3/9/2/3 JesseM (1158) - Margaritaville, Ontario, CANADA - APR 24, 2014
Nice amber version of this style if you’re getting tired of the blonde variety. Complex aroma that’s hard to pin down, decent flavour with some creamy sweet roasted malts. Not sure what the brewer was going for but it seems to work. This is basically a lager? Beerhunter111 (21245) - P´Castle, GERMANY - MAR 25, 2014
Ins Glas ergießt sich ein bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch malzig, hefig, würzig, leicht herb. Geschmack malzig würzig, hefig, leicht alkoholisch. TBone (17676) - Pori, FINLAND - NOV 28, 2013
Bottled 750ml Saveur. Clear amber color, small off-white head. Aroma is caramelly with apple-fruityness and alcohol. Medium-bodied. Flavor is sweetish fruity. Some toffee and alcohol. Plain but clean biere de garde. zacgillbanks (5288) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - JUL 21, 2013
Bottle from Carrefour, Calais. This is a bright amber beer with a toffee and sugary sweet flavour, fruity notes and more sweetness on the finish.

25cl bottle at Kasteelhof in Cassel. The label said it was brewed at Roman in Oudenaarde, Belgium. Straight amber ale, a bit sugared. a bit caramelled and with somewhat smoothed edges. Filtered. Not convinced it will have been a biere de garde as such. Grzesiek79 (4314) - Radom, POLAND - JUL 24, 2012
Dobre piwo francuskie o bursztynowym kolorze i puszystej piance. Karmelowo słodowy smak, a w zapachu podobnie. Przyjemnie się pije. Butelka 75cl BlackHaddock (7404) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 10, 2012
75cl cork and caged brown bottle, drank during one of my French beer evenings in October 2007.
Poured into my Hoegaarden Grand Cru glass and two Palm glasses, all in one pour. Clear amber colour with a thin white head.
The aroma was all about caramel, toffee and roasted malts, very impressive.
The flavours imparted in the taste mainly revolved around a toffee base, vry moorish.
Although everything I have said about this beer is toffeeish, it isn’t a sweet tasting beer, nor is it overly thick in the mouthfeel, just a normal body to it.
This is a well made beer, Northern France has some good beers and this is one of the better ones I’ve tried.

Bottle 75cl, a clear amber beer with good head and lacing. Nose is on burnt caramel. Aroma is a bit vinous with a medium sweet body, malt hints with caramel and burnt caramel notes, dry finish, not exceptional.
