Malzig-fruchtiger Geruch, Beeren, Karamell. Start süßmalzig, Karamell. Fruchtige Mitte, Waldbeeren. Malzig-karamellig und bitter ausklingend. Gut. WillemsUrenkel (1979) - Oldenburg, GERMANY - AUG 6, 2016
Thanks to my brother Torsten for that 0,3 l bottle. Pours put in a gold amber, big creamy light beige head. Sweet malt with hop on the nose. Taste is fresh hopy, light malty, citrus sweetness in the background. Hints of nuts and pepper. Low grainy elements in the aftertaste. Definitive no light amber ale. UPDATED: JAN 27, 2016 Bottle bought directly at the brewery. Pours amber and cloudy with a big off-white head. Some aroma of dark dried fruits, raisins, caramel. Sweet and a little fruity-sour with quite a bitter finish. dutchbeerpages (2439) - Wilnis, NETHERLANDS - DEC 6, 2013
One of those beers you didn’t expect to be this nice. Ambers will never really give you heaps of flavor but I cannot find things really wrong. Very decent brew! Christos (5883) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - SEP 23, 2013
Bottle, 300 ml, from trade with ShivanDragon, thanks! Into a tulip glass. ABV 6.5%
The bottle opens with an unexpected loud pop. I was afraid it would be a gusher but that was not the casee. The beer has an intense amber colour, with a clear body. Steady activity in the glass, a fountain of bubbles rising to the surface. Huge off-white head, creamy, is collapsing relatively fast but due to its size stays for quite a long time. Light to medium lacing on the glass.
Aroma of caramel hits first. After a swirl of the glass more aromas are surfacing, aromas of spices, a mixture of clove and nutmeg. The label says coriander, but I can’t seem to trace it, well, maybe just a hint on the back.
Taste is light sweet, the alcohol is present but not annoying, yeast, spices again that bring to mind a winter warmer. Quite good, with its mild bitter aftertaste.
Medium body, average carbonation with a bite on the tongue.
Overall very interesting beer, nice. Countbeer (6591) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - AUG 30, 2013
Bottle: Thanks ShivanDragon: Very nice, somewhat authentic looking label(s): Served in a Duvel glass:
Orange to light amber pour.
Medium to bigger sized, bit fluffy on top but mostly airy beneath, creamy off white with a vanilla ish tint colored foamy head.
Body is beautiful orange amber with a more hazy than cloudy density, if we can speak of such, quite clean and good looking.
Aromas of some different but easy malts (pils and cara come to mind), grains, herbs, some watery hops, light caramel and soapy tones. The aroma is very basic, but since I am thirsty and it doesn’t smelll bad, it appeals.
Flavours of bitters, malts, caramel, some slight grainy alcohol touch on the tongue, some nuts, a subtle dryness that becomes more heavy in the aftertaste, yeast, hay, herbs, light floral, light spicy, some leaves, light meal and porridge tones, malts, autumnal herbs, grains that tend to go to being a bit sharper and a decent touch of something sweet like marzepin and caramel.
Aftertaste has a strong bitter note with a strong dryness. There is also some grains, malts, mealy, nuts and hay tones.
Low carbo, soft silky mouthfeel, medium to lightly fyller bodied and a thick creamy to light oily texture.
Didn’t expect such a strong and filled flavour, maybe a bit unbalanced (strong growing bitterness that takes control of everything else, specially after a while), but it is clean and quite crispy and good dry. I got the feeling that this is a lightly of the path Amber ale, but good enough to keep it interesting and going. Looking forward to taste more of this brewery!
