Black color. The infection is evident from the aroma, and flavor, very bad; the underlying Baltic Porter is hidden.
Bottle - Slightly sour roast. Jet black beige head. Cherry, chocolate and sour milk. Gone off. mcberko (18998) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 7, 2014
22 oz. bottle, pours a near-black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of cocoa nibs upfront, followed by a little ass (yes, really) and some herbal / vegetal notes. Flavour is unusually acidic and lightly tart for the style - this is nastily infected. Shame, as I can see this being good regularly. As is, this is a drain pour. bytemesis (9240) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JAN 31, 2014
Bottle thanks to glkaiser! Pours clear ruby black with a small brown head that dissipates quickly with nice lacing. Aroma is roasty, anise o’plenty, herbal and roots. Flavor is anise, roasty chocolate, light sweet and medium bitter. Medium body, a bit acidic. I am guessing this is good for the style, I just can’t get into the style for the most part.

Found at QFC at University Village in Seattle. I’d never seen or heard of this one, and the label looks much, much different than any other American Brewing Co beer I’d seen. Also, on the label it reads: "Brewed and Bottle for BPI By American Brewing Company, Edmonds, Washington" (yes, with the bottle grammar issue)
Pours a nice dark coffee brown with a fleeting mocha foam top that once gone in a few moments leaves slate mirror. Raisins, cola, cocoa, molasses and prunes come out in the nose. Pleasant and robust smell is decent. Flavor is dry with coffee, cocoa, fig, some bitterness and tobacco with accents of vanilla and graham. I like the flavor well enough. Medium bodied with a reserved carb and an off-dry finish. I like this beer well enought that I would buy more than once certainly.

Bottle:   Deep brown, cola hues, thin to moderate foamy beige head, spotty lacing.   Dark chocolate, roasted malt, a touch of soy, and carob on the nose.   Sweet on the tongue, malty, a little roasty, over ripened
fruit like sweetness towards the back.   Some minor coffee and carob notes.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate, albeit it does seem to stick to the tongue fairly well.   Has a fine lactic sourness on the back that I could do
without.   I do see that time to time for this style, so its not that uncommon.   Minor appleskin on the finish, amongst the roast, carob, coffee, and minor lactic sourness.   Fairly decent overall.   Wished it were a bit
sweeter tho. riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - FEB 18, 2013
Roast, dark fruit, and earth on the nose. Pours dark brown more or less black with a thin tan head. Flavors of dark roast dark fruit residual fruity earthy light bitterness. Light dark fruity tang finish with a little cleaner finish than an imperial porter. Light alcohol. Interesting. AmEricanbrew (7037) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - DEC 25, 2012
