Pours a tan head on an almost black body. Aroma is roasted malt, toast, a little chocolate. Taste is sweet roasted malt, mild caramel and chocolate. Good balance. Texture is smooth. A well made ale. camaroguy (1) - Chatsworth, California, USA - JUL 9, 2016 does not count
This is by far the greatest Brown I have ever had. There is no discussion as far as I am concerned. I have tried them all. It has great Malty characterists, with a touch of a roasted flavor, and hints of chocolate. Goes great with a steak! thetmaxx (927) - West Sacramento, California, USA - DEC 26, 2015
Poured from the growler. I can’t believe I haven’t rated this before. Nice head. Dark brown color. Aroma is nutty and mild chocolate. Flavor is also nutty with a mild roasted barley and mild chocolate notes. Very slight note of hops. Overall one of the better brown ales out there. bg80 (84) - California, USA - SEP 17, 2015
From bottle. This pushes the boundary between brown ale and porter, given the strong coffee, chocolate, and toasted flavors. Its a bit lighter in the beginning, but the finish is particularly porter-like. Not a bad porter, but a porter nonetheless. Koskela (505) - Marysville, California, USA - JUL 26, 2015
This deep brown brew with a slight cream head forming around the edges has a choc and bready aroma. It's choc and crisp medium body has a slight coffee aftertaste. Very sweet. Not a bad brew.

22 oz bottle poured into a nonic pint glass. Trade from a Sacramento friend, thanks Ed! Dark brown with massive four fingers of beige to light tan head. Aromas of sweet malt, some buttery notes, light caramel and toffee. Tastes of caramel, toffee, bitter/burnt roast, a bit vegetal. Medium-light body with a dry finish. A bit over-carbonated. hayduke (5731) - Eureka, California, USA - DEC 3, 2014
Pours very dark brown with a beige head. Good lacing. Nose of chocolate roasted malts. Medium body. Flavor is strongly chocolate and the finish is better. Excellent brown. dhunter151 (590) - Santa Rosa, California, USA - OCT 17, 2014

A pleasant roasted malty aroma hits the nose and follows up in the flavor with light chocolate, caramel, and coffee. If not for being overly thin in body, this would be a solid brown. Had to laugh at this ridiculously high score on RB, seemingly for no reason other than "it’s local."... "The most local beer I’ve ever tasted, so I may have a bit of bias, but nonetheless I’m super proud of this local small brewery." How bout rating it on its merits? Ya know...taste and smell and that kind of thing? " BeerFunGuy (874) - California, USA - JUL 10, 2014
This deep brown beer has the aroma of caramelized brown sugar. I rich chocolate and roasted flavor are strong.
