hazy brown colour, moderate sized dense beige head; aroma of walnut liqueur, dried plum and cherry, slight vanilla, (green)apple, brandy, as well as woody notes; taste of dried plum and cherry soaked in alcohol, slightly burnt plum jam, burnt sugar, cognac or brandy notes, hints of apples, tannines and spicy alcoholic aftertaste; good one! Murky dark amber with a tan head.
Cognac, dried fruit, vanilla, alcohol. Full, sweet. Nice. alteregoo (1748) - Kalisz, POLAND - OCT 5, 2017
Piana średnio obfita, lekko sycząca, szybko opadająca do chmurki. Barwa miedziana, opalizująca. W zapachu słodowo, karmelowo, do tego trochę rodzynek i starego chmielu, beczka w postaci delikatnej waniliny i koniaku w dalekim tle.

Bottle picked up at Beermoth, Manchester, consumed at Fairport Annual Reunion, Saturday 12th August 2017. Dark brown with a filmy beige head. Lots of sweetness on the tongue, and a real boozy follow up, this comes back down the nostrils. The cognac really plays a big part, it’s very noticeable. Soft in the mouth, nice carbonation, heat shows again, fruity, it’s a good beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8 superspak (6015) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - JUL 27, 2017
375 ml bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy dark brown color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, date, apricot, pear, apple, orange zest, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted oak, biscuit, and floral; with lighter notes of vanilla, chocolate, toffee, nuts, herbal, pepper, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, cognac barrel, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, date, apricot, pear, apple, orange zest, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted oak, biscuit, and floral; with lighter notes of vanilla, chocolate, toffee, nuts, herbal, pepper, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/peppery hop bitterness and cognac/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of raisin, plum, fig, date, apricot, pear, apple, orange zest, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted oak, biscuit, floral, vanilla, chocolate, nuts, herbal, pepper, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, cognac barrel, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness and cognac/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from bitter/oak spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky/tannic, and slightly slick/syrupy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden; fairly warming, with minimal barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is a great English barleywine. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, cognac barrel, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV. Pretty much perfect balance between barrel, malt, and fruity yeast flavors. A bit more hoppy/drying than I’d prefer for the style; but this will definitely age really nicely. A very enjoyable offering. Scrumpy369 (951) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JUL 24, 2017
Bottle at home. Murky brown colour, beige head disappears immediately. Nose is vanilla, oak, would guess whiskey not cognac. Taste is definitive cognac-whiskey, (didn’t have that much cognac), low sweetness, that turns into a hoppy bitterness. Distinct alcohol in the aftertaste. Lacks a finish for me. pilsnerrogge (2997) - Finspång, SWEDEN - JUL 21, 2017
Pours dark brown with a small head. Sweet aroma of fudge, chocolate, licorice, cherries and oak casks. Thick and sweet mouth feel. Sweet taste of brown sugar, fudge, cherries, brandy and oak casks leading to warming alcohol finish.
