Draft at brewpub. Pours light brown with no head. Not much on the nose. Slight caramel note on the tongue. This does not feel like the beer a monk would subsist on in the winter. dogfish120love (1339) - Westfield, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 28, 2010
Pours a very light reddish rust in color, with no head. The aroma is way to hoppy for a doppel and the color is not reminiscent of any doppel I have ever seen. The flavor is somewhat spicy. Doesn’t look, smell or taste like a doppel. BlackDonald (1126) - Gulf Shores, Alabama, USA - AUG 4, 2009
An decent take on the style, but I think they missed the mark a bit. An aroma of faint dark fruits and caramel malt. Same for the palate, definitely has some heat coming through here from the alcohol, a light bit of spice and bread in the finish. hophead75 (2012) - Largo, Florida, USA - FEB 26, 2007
sampled at the brewpub. amber in color. Aroma is malty and lightly grainy. Taste is caramel malts, with light notes of musty grains and although smooth for the most part, a touch of light tartness. not a bad beer, but thought it could be a bit fuller in body and a bit smoother.

Orange amber ale with no head. Light sweet fruity malt, with notes of pears. Sweet caramel taste, with light treacle candy notes, no alcohol warmth noted. Good but more like a Vienna. On tap Feb.10, 2006. GonZoBeeR (3061) - ste-catherine, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 15, 2006

Hazy ruddy orange amber. Small whitish lace. Nice bock flavor. Dark fruit, sweet bready malts, medium to full body, finishing with a slight alcoholic note. Not the best doppel ive had, but a nice american interpretation. ericnixon (746) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 20, 2005
On tap at the Amherst Brewing Company. No head at all over a dark orangy color. Nice orangy, malty flavor. The stronger alcohol was apparant in the warmth I felt while drinking it. Good stuff! beerbuzzmontreal (3487) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 6, 2005
Pours a hazy amber color with a ring of white lace. Good aroma of malt, fruits and mild alcohol. Good flavor of rich malt, fruits and alcohol with a sweet finish. Medium body, creamy and oily texture, soft carbonation. Very honest effort.
