I don't (and won't) get it, why Amstel (and other Dutch Lager) are enjoying such a popularity. Drinkable, ok, when you're thirsty, but otherwise watery in taste with so many better beers available everywhere. Not mine.

25/VII/17 - 50cl can from a Dutch supermarket (either AH or Jumbo) @ holidays - BB: XII/2017 (2017-1120)

Clear blond beer, creamy irregular white head, pretty stable, little adhesive. Aroma: bit sweetish, malty, not much smell anyway. MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: pretty bitter start, bit metallic, some almonds, bit sweet, fruity touch. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, malty, sweet, grains.

Nothing WRONG with Amstel. Just nothing realy RIGHT with it either. Cereal aromas. Pretty much just malt flavors as well. Appearance is really nice though. Good head. Nice lacing.

Acaro (308) - Madrid, SPAIN - JUL 23, 2017
Aroma: Cereals. Appearance: Gold color with clear sparkling liquid and minimal white head. Taste: Light bitterness with a very light sweet touch. Palate: Light body with thin texture and average carbonation. Short soft bitter finish. Overall: Plain, no memories. Very soft features.

Zlotta (3806) - Hagen / Düsseldorf, GERMANY - JUL 14, 2017
Sampled from 0.5 l can from ’AH XL’ (Roermond), best before November 2017. Clear, golden yellow with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish aroma of grains and some straw. Slightly sweetish, moderately bitter, a little watery taste of grains and some straw, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly grassy and a bit dry finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Inoffensive.

Well, well. An unrated alias from my local ’Shop N’ Drive’ dogshit forecourt. £2 for a 650ml bottle. Just wanted a hit of something brainless and cold to sup watching QT which isn’t even on. And my does this tick the brainless box. About as close to wet air as you can get with distant slithers of corn, white rice, adhesive, minerals and white toast. All wrung from all-malt apparently. Sniffs of lemon sponge, rubber and cereal. Oddly still and mucilaginous. NA wholemeal notes. Gone like it was never even there. What’s the point?

Can 50cl. from an Albert Heijn supermarket, poured into a lager glass. Clear pale golden, good frothy white head, good retention and lacing; aroma sweet malt, grain, corn, hay; taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, grainy, metallic; bit more bitter in the aftertaste, light peppery note, some cardboard; light body, watery texture, average carbonation; easy to drink.

Shared from can from Spar in train from Leiden to Den Haag after Leiden Winterbier festival. Massive thanks to Maakun. Clear pale golden and white head. Sweet mlts, metallic notes, light sweet and bitter. Under medium body. Watery aroma and feel. Low carbonation.

Can from Spar, shared in the train. Clear light golden with big white head. Some light sweet pils malts, light paper and old wood, hint of grassy hops, light dust and cardboard. Light sweet and bitter. Light bodied with slick feel.
