Watery body. Sweet flavor with notes of caramel. Not anything else. No aroma, no aftertaste, nothing to remind you that you are drinking a pilsener.

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2017 500ml can from Billa, drunk at home. Pours clear with a thick foamy head that lasted longer than most, a lot of lacing. Mid amber in colour with a fine bead. Corn, resin, bread and hay on the nose. Creamy mouth feel giving way to well-balanced bitterness and more than a little sugar. Medium to high carbonation. This review is for the version brewed by Zagorka at Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. Overall, a very acceptable premium pilsener.

500 ml can bought at 7-Eleven on Shantung Street, Mong Kok.

Piss golden yellow colour; Explosive four-finger head with long lasting crumpety white foam; Very good sticky lacing and notable small carbonation; Fragrant and sweet aroma of Pils malt, with strong floral, sugar, herbs, strong dough, bread, strong lemon and strong grass; Mid to light sweet taste of Pils malt, with floral, light molasses, wood, dry bread, lemon, medium bitter hops and strong strawy grass; Close to medium body. Slick palate; Mouth feel is fair Pils maltyness in a somewhat diluted, slightly soapy background. Strong floral and wood dominates with moderate sweetness. Soggy bread with lemon to round. Kinda okay... Hoppiness is strong floral, herbs, strong lemon and strong grass in nose. Wood, floral, lemon, and strawy grass in taste; Bitterness is notable for a lasting, medium astringent sweet-bitter herbal finish; Quite dry after taste. Woody lemony and quite bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one has a nice flowery sweet aroma, but the taste is marred by watered down malt and montone woody hops. Would have been decent if not diluted. Drinkable but once is enough.

På hotellbalkongen, Santorini: klar gylden med ok skum. Kort og intetsigende aroma og smak med innslag av kokte grønnsaker litt citrus og maltsødme. Grei tørsteslukker i tredve graders varme. Ut over det er den supremely uninteresting.

Gulbrun klar med lavt hvitt skum. Lukter korn og noe maltekstrakt. Lett. Smaker maltekstrakt og noe bitter brent karamell. Kort, noe metallisk avslutning.

Pours pale golden with a white frothy head. Aroma of pale malts and grain, some cardboard. Taste is light but crisp. Corny sweetness followed by little grassy bitterness.

In Greece it’s hard to find good beers. The Amstel Pils is one of many other lagers made to quench thirst during the hot summer months. Room for improvement in taste, but the finish is refreshing.
