Big black pour, smaller brown head, gobs of lacing. Big whiskey aroma, vanilla, dark chocolate, roasted malt. Whiskey gives way to light vanilla notes, dark chocolate, light vanilla, anise. Thicker, full body.

Bomber from John! Thanks! Black in the glass. sort of translucent against a hard light. small head. waxed top (sigh). Smells pretty damn good. Licorice, whiskey, coconut and vanilla with milk chocolate. Very chocolatey. lots of bitterness at the middle to finish. cocoa, charred barrel. want a bit more vanilla but loads of whiskey. tasty.

August 8, 2014 - with blankboy, gregclow, jercraigs and mabel. Bomber. Slightly thin-looking black with a decent but quick-diminishing tan head - and yes, legs for days! Aroma is bourbon and roast - some orange zest (7+). Taste - vanilla (oak), alcohol and roast - dunno - coffee? chocolate? a bit boozy (8-). Slick, light body & carbonation, a little burned and burny in the finish. Who drinks 650ml of this stuff???????

Beer shared at RBAG 2017. Thanks Tony, I think. Soy, brown sugar, booze, and motor oil. Taste is bourbon, malts, rubber, and vanilla. Pretty harsh, but still nice.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle at the brewery, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of dark cocoa, roast, nice oak, vanilla, coconut and bourbon notes with a hint of spice. Taste was a mix of dark chocolate, baker’s chocolate into some coffee, bourbon, oak, vanilla come through with a hint of spice, finishing bitter, a bit thin. Pretty tasty.

650ml bottle @ home. 2015 Vintage
Pours an opaque brown with a small brown head. Nose has ample bourbon with dark fruits. Flavour is rich and complex again with bourbon and dark fruits. Great brew.

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2016 Tasting at Brian’s. 650ml bottle (thx, Peter!). Vintage 2015. Pours a very dark brown with a brown head. Aroma is lots of bourbon, dark fruits, marshmallow. Taste is very complex with the same notes. Excellent!

2013 (Four Roses Bourbon) Barrel Aged Double Tempest, possibly one of Amsterdam’s raddest attempts. Bottles are from the Leaside LC right near the brewery. Gorgeous classic RIS look. Heavy on the bready-sweet malt richness and the bourbon is certainly apparent. This is a 2.7 year old bottle and my first taste, and it is what it says it is. Dark fruit, dark demerara and and mellowed roast malts and smooth espresso seem to predominate. Slight oily palate, finishes only a bit dry with some notable toasty oak and oak tannins. Touch of bourbon burn is nice. Aroma is sweet dark malt and espresso. Mature bottle lacks coconut from the oak, and could be a touch drier but all is well, and the Bourbon sweetness is now forward if anything so all is well.
