Slepkov (46) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 11, 2015
I want to love this, but I don’t. I’m having a hard time deciding why it is that I don’t love this beer. I’ve had about 10 of these over the past 3 months, and still I feel it lacks the excitement I’m looking for. Appearance: The dense lathery head is impressive in its persistence. A great savoring (nursing?) brew as the eternal head is gorgeous, with lacing down the glass. the auburn colour is also beautiful. Although unfiltered, I left most of the residue in the bottle this time. Nose: yes, it is hoppy, with good notes of pine, but there is also a lot of biscuit malt here--maybe too much in fact. Aroma is "alright". Taste: Bitter, as expected, and malty. Balanced enough, but a little dead. Alcoholic and a bit syrupy. Not as much citrus as I like in an IPA, and a little too heavy with all the malt. I pay for the auburn colour with a little too much malt flavour. No major flaws in this, but nothing to get me looking forward to the next one. too much of a one-and-done. Still, go Canada, keep upping the stakes on the IPA. I’m glad to see more on the market.

Pours amber colour with thick off-white head that lasts. Great lacing. Citrus & tropical fruits, pine & malt aromas. Taste is a bit sweet and medium-strong bitter. Medium body & carbonation. Good bitter finish.

Tranquillity (2483) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 4, 2015
The aroma is mushy, like a damp cloth mixed with summer fields and hops. Not bad, just a bit off... Same goes for the taste. Not bad, just a bit off. The finish is really bad though, you need to wait a long time before the nasty flavors leave and the hop comes to the back of the mouth.

Pour yields a thin white head that nearly disappears completely. Moderately murky amber colour. Bright grapefruit aromas shine through, overwhelming the mild malt flavours. This beer has a long, welcome finish, moderate carbonation, with subtle pine notes that emerge as the beer warms.

UXO (1896) - CANADA - FEB 28, 2015
Pours hazy medium amber with three fingers of rocky light beige head, excellent retention and lacing. (5/5) Nose is pithy grapefruit, orange peel, pine resin, mild tropical fruit, caramel malt. (7/10) Taste is moderate sweet, moderately strong bitter. (7/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, off-dry bitter finish. (4/5) Nice full-bodied IPA. A little on the malty side, but not overly so. Decent body, slightly chewy. Well-integated ABV that doesn’t intrude. Would kinda like to see brighter hops, though. Pretty darn good overall. (16/20)

RuneStumo (2696) - Haugesund, NORWAY - FEB 17, 2015
17.02.2015. On tap at Corks Beer & Wine bar, Toronto. Amber colour and kind of dark for an ipa. White head. Malty aroma as well as lots of hop. Its fresh with good flavours of herbs and spruce. Bitter aftertaste, that keaves a dry mouth. Good beer!

Gluepot (685) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 10, 2015
Fresh, punchy taste and nose permeate this IPA. The nose has an intriguing mixture of fresh hops, roasty caramel and malt and a hint of vanilla. The taste has a solid but non-astringent bitterness with some pine accents. The hops are underlayed by very tasty rich and sweet malt. Poppin’ balanced taste in this Amsterdam Breweries creation. A real treat.

Patrickctenchi (6691) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - FEB 8, 2015
Can: Cloudy, dirty brown with a small beige head. Old fruits, orange-peel aroma. Taste is orange malt, caramel malt, orange/grapefruit peel. Nicely fruited....solid peel hops.

shrubber85 (11570) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - JAN 31, 2015
UPDATED: JUL 4, 2016 Can. Lightly musty orange malt and grapefruit peel aroma. Cloudy amber with large light tan head. Sweet orange malt and moderately bitter grapefruit peel flavor. Lingering hops in the finish. Extra points for sponsoring the Trailer Park Boys.
