Formerly known as Amsterdam Nut Brown. The object of desire, Amsterdam Downtown Brown is crisp yet subtle in character. A classic British-style brown ale brewed with a blend of Canadian and European malts (including chocolate malt from Belgium), this traditional deep chestnut coloured ale exudes a bold and attractive taste. Brewed with English Ale yeast and balanced by four varieties of continental hops, our Downtown Brown delivers an uncommon smoothness and distinct drinkability.

Thanks Tim for the can. This was poured into a mug. The appearance was a slight dark amber almost brown color with a finger and a halfs worth of white foamy head that held for a little bit before gently dieing. Just a wisp of messy lace. The aroma had some sweet caramel/toffee malts up front with some nuttiness. Light toast and then some earthy/grassy hops. The flavor did a decent job of blending sweet to roast and that slid into the aftertaste and sliding into the finish. The feel was about medium bodied, maybe just a tad under with a pretty good sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt good. Overall, nicely done English brown ale well worthy of having again.

16oz can. Ruby-brown body, deep sweet caramel brown ale. Medium bodied, with an obvious UK influence. Some amber malt undertones. Smooth, sweet specialty malt tones. Easy going malts. Enjoyable.

Nice appearance but the taste was perhaps a bit too nutty compared to other nut ales.

Almost opaque dark brown color, with a copper hue, and moderate activity. Slightly creamy light brown 2 finger head, lasting around 5 minutes, with poor legs. Flavors of chocolate, roasted dark grains, molasses, dark berries, nutmeg, coffee, herbal spices. Highly sugary, with low bitterness, but strong sharpness. Creamy medium body with prickly carbonation. Medium strength finish that lingers with a chocolate roasted earth feel. Overall an okay quality craft. The flavors are tasty, but a little unbalanced and faint, while the remaining finish is well intensified. Okay freshness being a little flat. Feels overly accessible.

Clear Mahogany brown pour, fair sized head and decent lacing. A bit of cocoa, nuts, roasted malt in the aroma - quite muted actually. Caramel, roasted malt in the taste, again a bit of nut, chocolate, nothing really stands out here but is a little more robust than the aroma suggested. Mouthfeel is on the thinner side. A pedestrian brown ale geared more towards those with an aversion to hops.
