A hazed golden amber ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, a beautiful sweet fruity malt with light Brett notes, cork character, ground cherries, interesting. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with light Brett, light buttery notes, grapeskin, nice. On tap at Barhop. JoeMcPhee (10137) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 1, 2014
Thanks to Iain for this lovely. Deep golden pour. The aroma is awesome. Softly vineous with notes of oak and some toasted vanilla character. A bit of soft acidity and some stone fruit on the back of a clean Belgian malt profile. Subtle esters but they add a bit of pear and fruit. Subtle funk with a nice rounded character. Just an incredible brew.

650 ml bottle from Brewhouse retail store. Pours a clear golden colour with modest-sized white head. Aroma is sour apple, pear, wood, Belgian yeast and alcohol. Flavour is quite fruity, both sour and sweet with apple, pear, lots of woodiness and Belgian yeat with a fairly strong booziness. Mild carbonation. Interesting one. neongolden (2027) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 18, 2013
(Draught at Bryden’s, Sept 22 2012 as ’Amsterdam Pinot Noir Barrel Aged Golden Ale’) Pours a quite cloudy pale gold with a very thin, disappearing white head without much lacing. Aroma filled with fruit, particularly a sour crabapple aroma with some banana, some candy sugar and slightly grainy malt, light Noble-type hops and a faint woody earthiness. Flavour of slightly tart green apple, banana, bit of bubblegum, pale grain, light sugariness and a bit of wood. Not very bitter, finishes slightly sweet with a bit of alcohol heat. An interesting, fruit-forward strong golden Belgian with the barrel seemingly contributing different flavors than I expected. Something to drink in small volumes, however. November 2, 2012 - with blankboy, gregclow, jercraigs & mabel - bomber c/o gregclow. Bottom pour. Very hazy slightly orange-tinged gold with a smallish frothy/bubbly white head. Aroma is standard Belgian golden - sweet malt (pear), yeasty, mildly spicy, don’t smell the pinot - mostly light and fruity. Taste - some barrel, but more like chardonnay wine character, very light oak - otherwise follows the aroma with an admix of grapeseed bitterness not present on the nose, a little alcohol warmth. Thick mouthfeel, a littl spicy/astringent, not much carbonation, with a quickish finish and a crushed grapeseed bitter linger - a little dry from alcohol presence too. Nice!

Pours a hazy golden orange with a bit of white head that dissipates quickly and has a bit of active carbonation. Smell is quite fruity with some cherries, a bit of woodiness, and maybe a bit of hoppiness in the background, very nice smell. Palate is on the lighter side of medium bodied with slightly lacking carbonation. Taste is kind of sweet at first but then has a nice bitter fruity kick that leads into a slightly bitter and slightly sweet aftertaste. Very nice, the barrel did it good. A Belgian pale that is overwhelmed by sweet wine, with some tannins in the finish. Decently done, although I wouldn’t have it again. A tad below average mouthfeel for what it is, a showoff for the wine taste. I would like something less one dimensional for the style.
Doug’s bottle from the brewery. barncatmatt (2355) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 20, 2013
bomber shared with jeff and joel from a trade with bartowels wilco. deep golden, white head. nice wine and barrel in the nose. the flavour showcases the base beer but the barrel has added a ton of depth. medium body and the swetness is in check, better then i expected. UPDATED: MAY 14, 2016 Copper pour with very little head to speak of. Aroma of Pinot noir, sweet fruits, notable pear. Taste of ear, Oak, slight lemon, red wine. Medium body, light carbonation. An adventerous brew from Amsterdam and one that works. Thanks for sharing Peter! mabel (10003) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 31, 2012
[4915-20121102] 650mL bottle. Buttery tanned grainy malt aroma. Slightly hazy, light orange brown with a quick foamy off-white head. More wine barrel and boozy buttery wood grain in the flavour. Medium-full body. Quite tasty. (7/3/7/4/14) 3.5
