(On tap at Bar Hop, Dec 31 2013) Pours a very slightly hazed medium gold with a smallish, lingering white head. Aroma quite interesting, very floral Nelson Sauvin, a little citrus, a bit sharp - perhaps a touch mineral or acidic - and slightly grainy. Flavour definitely pretty unique, bit sweet at first, pale malt and floral, slightly citrus, white wine grape-heavy hop character. Reminded me of the flavour of an off-dry muscat but much less acidic. The grainy character of the wheat becomes much more apparent towards the finish, it dries out a lot, some alcohol and moderate hop bitterness as well. Grape persists. Body is medium, slick, soft carb, not too boozy. I found this a fairly different beer, not oaky but could’ve believed it was white wine barrel-aged. Very tasty stuff though, complex but good drinkability. HogTownHarry (7081) - Toronto (Harbourfront), CANADA - DEC 30, 2013
On draught at Bar Hop. Clear gold with a smallish white head. Sharp grain and alcohol aroma, quite floral. Tate is a light fruity slightly acidic Belgian golden ale with odd pungent dry grain overtones - odd but interesting. Solid body, astringent and mildly carbonated - finishes strong. Lovely, unusual. jercraigs (10923) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 19, 2013
2013-08-11. Hazy bright orange body with a modest off white head. 3++ Aroma is oaky up front, followed by light alcohol and pale malt. Flavour is dry, moderate oak character throughout, pale malt, dry finish with white wine character to it. 7++ Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate suits it nicely . 3++ Decent. Deep golden-amber pour. Rich sweet malt aroma with a nice peppery and minty character with a clean herbal spiciness and a little bit of fruit. Slick palate and a touch of berry fruit. Pretty awesome - there used to be a lot more of this style but this is the first one I’ve had in about 5 years. Solid stuff. Sammy (12858) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 5, 2013
I am a wheatwine fan, and enjoyed this hoppy version immensely at Day After Tap Takeover at Bar Volo. Cloudy yellow, lacey. Very hoppy(89 IBU) and simply delicious. Funky aroma, full mouthfeel, a sheet of lace. Great drinkability. Bottle this please.
