Really dark pour with a modest head. Chocolate coffee caramel ...however it lacks a little depth for an imperial stout. Strangebrewer (1309) - Chatham, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 21, 2013
bottle 2012 9%. Poured dark opaque black with a creamy mocha brown head. Aroma of roasted barley and a touch of alcohol. Thick oily texture with a warming finish. Roasted malt flavour, a little burnt. Coffee, treacle, vanilla flavours all mashed together with a medium dry finish. torontojay (25) - Ontario, CANADA - NOV 19, 2013
2013 bottle from LCBO. Nice, dark pour with a meager head. Aromas full of roasted coffee and chocolate, with a hint of green hops. Palate is pretty substantial and the flavour is a nice mix of spice, chocolate malts and bitter hops. Overall very good, will likely mellow nicely with age. The wax top was a bugger, though. Dark brownish murk with coffee head. Aroma of heavy malts, coffee and chocolate hints. Flavour is equal however the body is a little thin. Afters are bitter but such a thin body. shaynsawchuk (681) - Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 13, 2013
500 mL bottle. Pours opaque black with a nice tan head and lots of lacing. Rich chocolatey aroma with layers of vanilla, coffee, deep caramel, roast and herbal hop. Big lingering mouth feel with moderate carbonation and a full body. Lightly sweet offset by a good hop bite. Undetectable alcohol. Very well made.

2012 bottle. Creamy, milk chocolate, dark malt. Really mellow rich aroma. Completely black, long lasting brown aroma, very viscous pour. Looks great. Really smooth, upfront some sweetness and chocolate, finishes with soy sauce, metal and a slight leafy hop bitterness. The age definitely smoothed this one out. Full bodied, average carbonation. A great imperial stout. Bendrixian (1514) - Canadiana, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 3, 2013
Midnight black colour with a nice frothy brown head that laces well enough. Huge aroma of espresso, chocolate, roast and some barley notes. On the palate the roast and toasty bitterness comes through with hints of choclate and some hoppy fruityness as well. Very good stuff fresh. can’t wait to see how she ages. Also, totally spelling mistake on the second sentence and has a tons of wax on the bottle. Very good beer. sudomorph (1167) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 2, 2013
UPDATED: NOV 3, 2013 2013 500ml bottle. Pours black as night with a half-finger tan head that thins to a film and ring.Aroma is large. Big roasted malts, chocolate, molasses, and a touch of coffee and alcohol. Taste is a solid bitter with a bitter chocolaty, mild coffee finish.Full body with a low-medium carbonation. Slightly oily with a creamy mouth and a mild alcohol warmth.Overall very nice. Solid aroma with a great roasty, bitter chocolaty taste. Will buy again and cellar a few to see how the years treat it! UPDATED: DEC 20, 2013 Getting this bottle open was a mission for me. The wax was more stubborn than a crack smoking mayor. (Amsterdam should take a lead from bourbon kingpins Makers Mark for a more enjoyable wax immersion experience). Pours darker than an pipeline oil spill. Love the mouth on this one: this is thick, rich boozy fun. Great for the cooler months. Just pour yourself something to drink while you try to open this. Hate to be an Englsh teacher on y’all but there’s a brutal error in the 2nd sentence on the back label. I will proofread & edit for free beer. BOSSbrewer (2705) - Arkansas, USA - OCT 27, 2013
Pours jet black from a bottle. 2013. Little to no head. Aroma is very roasty with some chocolate. Very bitter. Medium bodied. Finishes very dry. Decent beer.
