3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2012 Bottle, 9%, LCBO. Pitch black with a chocolatey brown head. Aroma is interesting but not quite inviting - sort of tinny, some alcohol, but in a port sort of way, a bit of roast malt - this threw me off a bit. Taste - better! Sweet, strong, roasty and rich. Medium oily mouthfeel suits it perfectly. A thick big beast of a stout that is very good, but just finishes too short - lacks the complexity of the exceptional beers in this category. Still, a fine effort that I will buy again (and have already) - aging should do this one some good as well.
Pours a huge foamy tan head that doesn’t stick around very long and leaves a thin ring around inside. Has an extremely dark appearance, almost pitch black. Aromas of roasted malts, coffee, toasty malts and even hints of soya? Flavours are sweet, malty, chocolate, coffee and mocha. Some earthy hops as well. Very tasty and all around thickness and slight bitterness. Slick and oily mouthfeel. Warming sensation. Full bodied. Faint carbonation. Medium length finish. Sweet and bitter, well balanced. Nicely done, not too strong and goes down real well. worldbeertaste (1819) - West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 28, 2017
Dark black with a lasting tan, creamy medium, sticky head. Smells of deep malt, and nice full roast, spice, hops, raisin. Full rich body. Oily chewy thick. No carbonation. Initial bitter taste of hops that is rounded out to sweetness in the mouth and finishes with deep roast bitterness. Burnt lasting roast aftertaste. 2014 vintage bottle @home watching the Habs. Aroma: big rich chocolate, toffee, molasses, raisin and some far away hoppy notes. App: pitch black, small mocha head leaving nice lacing. Taste and palate: medium to full body, moderate sweetness, smooth, light to moderate bitter finish. Overall: well executed. Can’t remember exactly when I bought this bottle. Might even have been a gift from a trade. Anyway, it’s good. Maybe a bit too rich for my liking but it’s still not that hard to drink (so far at 1/3 of the bottle). Could probably have aged one more year. crazy_cat_lady (752) - - SEP 23, 2016
Bottle from LCBO. Bottled in 2013. Pitch black with a tan head. Chocolate, coffee, raisin and molasses aromas. Tastes of leather and coffee, with some chocolate and smoke. Bit
harsh on the tongue, but it is an imperial stout. From what I recall from trying this relatively fresh, this beer has definitely improved with age. Arcanor (422) - Quebec, CANADA - SEP 21, 2016
500ml bottled in 2014. Pour pitch black with a nice medium to tall foam. Aroma of roasted malt and smoke with notes of chocolat. Same on the taste. A bit thin than expected. Nice alcohol warmth. Long smoky and roasted malt finish.

quite impressive as it is nicely roasted but yet has not too much syropy taste as well as chocolaty taste VT (2527) - Quebec City, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 14, 2016

500ml bottle. Black in colour with a thin beige head ring around the glass, very light and patchy lacing. The aroma is of chocolate, some liquorice, roasty, some coffee. The flavour is of light chocolate, roasted coffee beans, some alcohol, light sweetness, vanilla. Warming mouthfeel, medium/light body, moderate carbonation. Finishes a bit thin, warming. A bit thin in the body but other then that a proper Imperial Stout. Patrickctenchi (6812) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - DEC 27, 2015
Pours deep, oil-brown with a small tan head.
Burnt coffee/chocolate aroma.
Taste is dark chocolate malt, molasses...a bit of ash and alcohol bitter.
Tasty, but just a little weak in the body.
Excellent bottle art.
