Bottled. Pours deep brown with a large short lasting beige head. Aroma of brown sugar, dark fruit notes, toasted caramel and spicy notes. Sweet flavor that ends up being slightly more dry with some umami notes too. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A nice brew with a solid malt backbone though I’m missing some hops to balance it. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 nybol (2371) - DENMARK - JUN 6, 2016
Jamen hvad skal man sige til en øl med blæretang og snus. Den smager af tjære og har en tyk humlet eftersmag. Splitenz (370) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 5, 2014
En værdig vinder af årets øl 2011
I was very fortunate to be around when they made this at Amundsen. It is funny, Norway is so restrictive many ways when it comes to alcohol, but a Dane had to go to norway to remake a beer not legal in the EU. Funny (because of the tobacco added to the beer). I was also fortunate to taste the first version (the "real" one, and I must say I thought this Amundsen made version wasn’t quite in the same league, but that could be an age issue, I don’t know. I was given a taste of the very first test run of the original beer, and it was amazing. Anyhow, this was a good experience all the same, even if the licorice/anis covered up what could have been, Also, I remember it as being a bit sweeter than I may have wanted? On tap at the brewpub
Black in glass, thin tanned head. Smells of liquorice, roasted malts, some hints of diacetyl (which suits this beer quite well). Taste is medium sweet, liquorice and scruff, quite dry, not much yeast characters. Moderate bitter. This is really not my glass of beer; too weird and i’m not that fan of scruff. Still i have to say it has several interesting aspects. I think it’s cool that we again can taste this banned brew
