COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lost adrift on the vast ocean, a team of Amundsen's explorers had a salt water induced fever dream. They dreamt of a powerfully balanced IPA with tropical, piney, hop flavors, dripping with malt sustenance. With their last remaining energy they carved the recipe into the deck of their raft. The last one who survived would make this IPA as a dedication to his lost brothers at sea. What you are holding in your hands is that beer. Meticulously reproduced by Timothy Albert, the lone survivor of the Great Hoptipus Attack of 1897.

Ingredients: Water, barley malt (Pilsner, Carared, Caraaroma), hops (Centennial, Columbus, Simcoe, Citra, Cascade), yeast.

Foffern (2108) - Bodø, NORWAY - FEB 7, 2018
On tap at Royal Gastropub, Oslo. Has a slightly hazy dark amber colour with a light beige head. Fruity aroma of grapefruit, peaches, wet cardboard, grass, pine and some ammonia. The flavour has more grass and grapefruit but sweet and fruity undertones of orange peel and bread. Has a soft mouth feel, medium body and bitterness. Fruity, easy-drinking and tasteful.

Tap at the Junkyard. Pours amber if unclear with broken off white lacing. Aroma is grapefruit atop a malt toffee base. Taste is lightly sweet with a vanilla twist and then light bitter with a modest pine note. Not textbook IPA but eminently drinkable. Palate is medium bodied at a push. Texture is sticky and carbonation average to soft. Finish is bitter but halfhearted. Good enough for the Arctic but a brave crew deserve even better.

Can from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is fruity hops, grapefruit, biscuity malt, caramel, a mild herbal 'n dank touch, citrus, pine resin. Flavour is moderate sweet and medium bitter. Body is medium. Good IPA with caramel malt and hops, pine and a bittersweet flavour. Nice.

Keg at Andrew Usher’s. Hazy amber body with a medium off-white head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of orange and plastic toys. Flavour of orange peel and tinned peach. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. A simple IPA that’s not particularly distinctive or flavoursome.

GoufCustom (2307) - HONG KONG - OCT 21, 2017

330 ml can with 360 End bought at YATA in YOHO Mall, Yuen Long.

Looks: Translucent amber honey colour with a cloud of misty yeast particles; One finger head with crumpety off-white foam which lasts for 3 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing with notable slight carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragrant Ale malt, with passion fruits, mangoes, peaches, assorted tropical fruits, citrus, honey, caramel, floral, strong fructose, spices, light pine, biscuits and fresh grass. So appealing!

Taste: Medium sweet full Amber Ale malt, with strong Melanoidin, nuts, caramel, grapefruits, yellow fruits, floral, molasses, spices, pine, light resin, herbs, dry biscuits, lime, mid to strong bitter hops and fresh grass.

Body: Medium body. Slick and slightly oozy palate.

Mouth Feel: Rich Amber maltyness in a slick and smooth background, full of Munich bock-ishness and nutty flavor. Hoppy grapefruits and yellow fruits complimented by good caramel. Flowery with just right molasses, spicy herbal with notable pine and light ooze. Strong lime to round. Blissfully refreshing!

Hoppiness: Passion fruits, mangoes, peaches, assorted tropical fruits, citrus, floral, spices, light pine and fresh grass in nose. Grapefruits, yellow fruits, floral, spices, pine, light resin, herbs, lime and fresh grass in taste; Bitterness is fairly strong for a lasting, mid to high astringent bitter-sweet Amber malty finish.

After Taste: Quite dry. Herbal limey and bitter to mouth.

Comments: Unlike the Apocalyptic Thunder Juice, this one sits firmly and comfortably in the IPA style, with outstanding Amber bockish maltyness, appealing Simcoe and Citra aroma, and nicely assertive limey hoppy taste. Everything kicks into the tight direction so it's hard not to like it. Great stuff!

[email protected], Copenhagen - Amber pour with white head and lacing. Sweet fruity and malty, with some sweet caramel malt, some grapefruit and citrus rind, piney resinous hoppy into the close. Decent old school west coast ipa rendition.
