GABBF ’08 - This barleywine was crazy, nice complexity, rich dark fruits, dates and raisins, brown sugar and cinnamon. The only thing that kind of irritated me was the hop profile was a little weak and somewhat soapish, but the maltiness is delicious. Hawksfan17 (890) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - SEP 20, 2008
Sweet barley, rice, red licorice aroma. Brown in color. Barley in the flavor and besides that it is just sweet and syrupy. The only beer I had that was not watery. drismyhero (815) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - APR 13, 2005
Fairly sraight-forward barley wine (the sticky/sweet/alchohol variety). Big chewy body yields sticky molasses, definitive woodiness, and the light burn of alchohol. Very flat beer - as is typical of the style. There is a toasted malt underlying everything here, giving the flavor a more defined shape. killjoy966 (677) - Washington, USA - NOV 17, 2011
Snifter @ Rock Fish. Deep caramel color and aroma. Incredibly sweet. Probably in the "twilight" years of its life. Not much carbonation to speak of. Decent barleywine but slightly too sweet for me. MrDick (381) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUL 16, 2006
Draft at brewpub in March 2006. Pours a hazy amber with a sweet, syrupy and malty aroma. Flavors are similar to the aroma. There is some hints of butterscotch and citrus. The malt is nicely balanced. Good traditional barleywine and very drinkable.
