Draft at brewpub in March 2006. Pours a hazy amber with a sweet, syrupy and malty aroma. Flavors are similar to the aroma. There is some hints of butterscotch and citrus. The malt is nicely balanced. Good traditional barleywine and very drinkable. beastiefan2k (4245) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - FEB 18, 2016
UPDATED: FEB 19, 2016 2012 version on draft at BPP. Dark amber. The good kind of age for a barleywine. Light cardboard mixing with aged toffee malt. Good for the age but probably shouldn’t be aged any further. 5000 (6900) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - APR 23, 2006
Draught 05’ vintage @ Brouwer’s Café during Hard Liver 2006: Dirty caramel, moderate to large foamy head, very nice lacing. Nose of alcohol, slight hop, otherwise fairly non-descript. Fairly heavy citrus rind on the tongue, low malt profile, with alcohol not being as strong as suggested by the nose. Does trailer off with a bit of alcohol heat tho. Moderate body and mouthfeel. Finish is fairly hot... alcohol seems to have become too apparent at this stage.   Simmer down naw! Sammy (13144) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 7, 2014

Sweet barley, rice, red licorice aroma. Brown in color. Barley in the flavor and besides that it is just sweet and syrupy. The only beer I had that was not watery.
