Allegedly there is maple syrup flavor in this beer. Prepare your taste buds for something more like a red IPA. Pretty hoppy, minimal watery malt flavor, and a tablespoon of maple syrup for the entire kettle.

355mL bottle BBE: 10.2016. Lightly chilled. Pours an auburn body with deep haze and a medium, tight off-white head. Medium-light intensity nose of maple syrup, vanilla, onion, earthiness, rose, papaya and a slight cat litter-tray aroma. A light sweetness is lifted by a more moderate bitterness on the tongue. The medium-full body has a ticklish texture and medium carbonation, with hints of fennel seed in the herbal finish. A beer that keeps on giving, with more aromas and flavours emerging as the beer heats up. Amazingly complex for an amber. Beerdedone (3432) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 20, 2015
Bottle. Pours copper with a thick off-white head. Aroma of caramel, pine and citrus. Flavor of caramel, fruit, citrus, pine, subtle maple and had some nuttiness. Batavi (394) - Waalwijk, NETHERLANDS - NOV 19, 2015
Geproefd tijdens bierproeverij, uitgeschonken in Struise BD glaasje.

Aroma: frontal tartness followed by maple sugars. Fuller softer herbal finish.
Top: very large, off-white lasting creamy crown.
Base: amber, clear
Palate : medium bodied, soft with soft carbonation and long finish.
Taste: it does feel a bit heavy, bit raw with its green harsh hop side. It does improve as it warms up.
other notes interesting but not to my liking.
Shared bottle. Pours is cloudy amber with thick white head that doesn’t last long, fair lacing. Aroma of caramel, pine, resin, maple, sirupy. Taste is light to moderate sweet, moderate bitter, caramel and resin notes. Light body, thick texture, dry, abrupt finish. Aroma is quite promising, but a lack of body was a bit disappointing, anyway good, extraordinary amber ale. unclemike (3160) - Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA - NOV 9, 2015
Pours a fairly clear amber with a large dense white head. Aromas of malt and maple with a touch of sweetness. Just about medium-bodied, a little bit sweet and malty with a tangy touch of maple. Soft spices with a bit of yeast into a fairly dry finish User134089 (1644) - - NOV 5, 2015

Poured an auburn, clear color with four fingers of khaki white, frothy head, which seemed to settle nicely on the top of the glass. Lots of thin bubble streams coming up along the sides from the bottom of the glass. Uneven, foamy layered lacing on the sides of the glass. Great retention on the top all the way down. A nice looking beer.

Smelled a good mix of hops and malts. Specifically got buttery malts, maple syrup, nuts, wood, caramel, herbal, toffee, toast and Pacific Hallertau. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted lightly better than the nose. Got toasty bread crust, toasty nuts, bitter wood, caramel, roasted toffee, oak, rustic maple, earthy herbal and booziness lingering on the tongue after. (Taste - 3.50)
Medium body. Sticky texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Long, woody, boozy finish. (Feel - 3.25)
This was just an OK beer, which is the rule for me on most Anchor beers. (Overall - 3.50)

Smell: balanced aroma of herbs, caramel, roast, malt, nutty. Pour: dark and mysterious, small head that retains decently. Taste: where’s the maple? Tastes a whole lot like the anchor steam original amber ale. Palate: very quick to fade, doesn’t leave a strong impression. badgerben (5253) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - NOV 2, 2015
Hazy dark amber/reddish color with a large head. Light, sweet caramel aroma with a heavy had of floral hops. Very nutty and dry caramel flavor. Dusty grain. Hint of maple. Quite bitter and dry. Medium to full body.
