Inspite of what the descriptions says, my friend picked this up at Systembolaget in Sweden - not exactly the Bay Area.<!-- br --><!-- br -->A deep red beer with a dense brown head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of herbs, but also a light touch of caramel. The flavor is sweet with a nice roastyness to it, but also a herbal note. I’m not that fond of the herbal notes - I wonder if it is the hops? joergen (28759) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 6, 2006

Bottled (thanks omhper!). Dark brown colour, small brown head. Aroma is almost wineous dark fruit, caramel, toffee, raisins and slight roast. Flavour is raisins, dark fruit, alcohol, caramel and a bit acidic fruits. Some roasted hints in finish and aftertaste, along with quite crispy hops. Quite full palate compared to many other beers at the same ABV level. Travlr (25532) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 4, 2014
Bottle. Clear dark brown color, tan head. Aroma of toffee, caramel. Taste is chocolate, caramel, licorice. Decent. omhper (25372) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - FEB 17, 2006
Bottled. Near black, minimal head. The aroma holds coffee, lactic acid and berries. Surprisingly light bodied with hard crystal malt character. Notes of papery malt and chocolate. Fairly low bitterness. There’s lots of good stuff in here, but a bock needs a big, soft maltiness - not hard, sharp crystal malt. madmitch76 (25101) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 4, 2011

Clear dark brown beer. Crispish palate. Rich malt with a distinct marmite tone and a little bitter hop fruit in the finish. Not bad but a tad bitter.
(Bottle 65 cl) Pours a clear, dark mahogany with an orange hue and a handsome, beige head. Aroma of hard roasted malt. Medium-bodied with very dry, hard roasted malts - vaguely burned actually. Also some accents of good aroma hops. A pleasant albeit rather unusual Bock. 110606
