The beer has a dark brown color in the glass with a large head. The nose has a maltiness with some hazlenuts. Taste has roasted fruits with a some caramel. sonnycheeba (5988) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - OCT 1, 2012
Tap. Pours dark brown with average, fizzy beige head; short retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is caramel malts, floral hops, figs, dates, and light nuts. Flavor is mostly sweet malts, with some dry wood notes, light hops, and faint fruit esters; dry finish. Light body and low carbonation. Slubgob (329) - West Hartford, USA - SEP 30, 2012
Tap pour. Mahogany color little bit of cream head.warm malt nose. Taste is mild like a good Oktoberfest, picking up warmer malt notes in the back with a hint of today.Light hoped on the backend cleans the palette.excellent, very drinkable fall beer. Japalo (1886) - DENMARK - SEP 26, 2012
Bottle. One finger clear brown. Fine malty notes. Very fresh crisp with tannin -like bitterness. The mouthfell resemblance a complex gourmet sauce. mensch (289) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - SEP 23, 2012
UPDATED: SEP 24, 2012 Beautiful reddish-brown with a rocky foam on top. Odd aroma includes some bright fruity hops which follow into the flavor, but both aroma and flavor favor the malt. Dry and toasty, some carmel and a plum kinda fruitiness. Fairly light in body. Dry finish. Very good, but maybe too dry and not malty enough for my taste.

No head whatsoever. Tastes pretty generic for a brown ale, but in a good way. I think the main flavor is molasses and nuts. Good but not great. Holmen1 (5873) - Stavanger, NORWAY - SEP 23, 2012
Decent head with good lacing. Decent flavor but overall impression was muddy

Bottle at home. Pours clear brown with a medium creamy beige head. The aroma is chocolate, light roasted, fruit, citrus and biscuits. The flavour is highly fruity woth notes of bubble gum, chocolate and some roast. Quite fruity brown ale. jookos (6762) - FINLAND - SEP 17, 2012
Bottle. Brown, clear. Nose is intriguing; caramel, hazelnuts, toffee, dark sugar, molasses, some chocolate. and a mixture of earthy hops. And a bit of metallic notes, sadly. Body is fullish, more roasted than the nose, bitter, but not too much. Some oak-like flavours as well. This must be one of the best classic brown ales I’ve tasted. Really nice.
