3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark ruby - thick head with decent retention - the citra hops dominate the nose, but the roasted malt surprisingly compliments it quite well - sadly, the same cannot be said of the flavor - the beer is quite dry and roasty and the bright citrus notes of the hops simply do not work with or compliment this character - tangy, dry, citric finish - the body is creamy , the malt base is firm and the beer is well-attenuated, but it just doesn’t come together for me.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tapped (@Tryk-Bar):Hazy, amber coloured, big brown fluffy head, sweet dark malt, brown bread, dried fruits and some vinous aromas in the nose, hops in the background; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied; lingering bitter-malty finish. A very convincing brew…

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Brown, clear. Nose is intriguing; caramel, hazelnuts, toffee, dark sugar, molasses, some chocolate. and a mixture of earthy hops. And a bit of metallic notes, sadly. Body is fullish, more roasted than the nose, bitter, but not too much. Some oak-like flavours as well. This must be one of the best classic brown ales I’ve tasted. Really nice.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours dark brown copper color with a foamy khaki head. Aroma is metallic roasted malt. Taste is bitter roasted malt with a hop presence and some metallic spice in the finish and some dark pitted fruit too. Palate is thin to medium and finishes dry. Decent beer that has a good roasty malt presence.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Not bad. A lot of carmel and brown sugar in the nose with strong notes of floral hops. The beer is deep brown with a syrupy tan head. A balance of sweet caramel with bitter floral hops. Chewy with a balanced impression.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz. bottle. Aroma is roasty, malty, nutty and lightly fruity, with suggestions of dark bread, brown sugar, earthiness, faint citrus, very light cocoa and a nice leafy hop character in the background. Clear medium auburn in color, with a lasting, fine, ivory head. Flavor profile is similarly roasty and fruity, interesting balance there, with very lightly sweet, dark, bready malt, hazelnut, and a fruity, herbal hop presence throughout, finishing with a light-moderate dosage of bitterness and drying out a bit somewhere along the way. Active and light on the palate, but with a familiar coating feel seen in other offerings by this brewer, and medium body. Delicious and intriguing, certainly one of the best Browns I have ever had. I love that Anchor house character, I really do.
