Draft at Chancellors Hotel in San Francisco. Clean, really well-balanced lager with some citrus character and a satisfying hop finish. Nice lager. gedthemanc (29) - ebbw vale, WALES - AUG 20, 2017
best anchor I’ve had, not too hoppy, quite a lot going on; and a nice bitter finish, bottle from m&s tgrtnr (435) - Augsburg, Bavaria, GERMANY - AUG 20, 2017
355 ml bottle. Pours pale golden with decent head. Grapefruit and other citrus fruits, grass, a bit metal, spicy hops. Hoppy bitterness. Soft carbonated, light bodied. Creamy mouthfeel. Reminds me on a unfiltrated Pilsener. Quite crisp and characterful pale lager. AcctError483995 (11) - - AUG 20, 2017
UPDATED: AUG 20, 2017 330ml can. Pours golden yellow with white head. Initial hints of citrus on the nose roll into a malty aroma with peppery hops. Fairly subtle in flavour, an initial malt hit soon changes to a short sharp hop finish. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. PietS (373) - Bergen op Zoom, NETHERLANDS - AUG 13, 2017
Grainy, medium bitter, and a slight weird sweet taste. An ok lager, but not my thing

As lagers go I quite like it. Has a sweetness to it and not too carbonated either. More hoppy than most lagers I’ve tried, which I like, more flavourful than mass produced stuff like Tennents, Coors etc kryon (4016) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - AUG 10, 2017
Pours clear pale yellow with low white head
Aromas of bread, malts, herbal, bit floral, grainy
Taste has notes of crisp bread, herbs, some maltyness, sweet bread
Mouthfeel is medium sweet, average carbonated with a low to medium bitter ending Xtoph (68) - AUSTRIA - AUG 10, 2017
Bottle bought in a local supermarket.
Appearance: Nice bottle, amber color, hazy liquid and a white and quite stable head.
Aroma: Surprisingly rich. Quite malty with notes of caramel and bread. Hoppy aromas are floral and citrus with some herbs. Hardly any yeast. Very good.
Taste: Good balance between sweetness and bitterness.
Palate: Nice carbonation on the palate. Oily texture and a medium finish.
Overall: A good lager with some very nice aromas and a very good bottle design. redders1974 (1730) - Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - AUG 3, 2017
Darker than average for the style clean with a hint of white pepper has a stronger almost imperial pils finish good for the style. The_Osprey (9916) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 29, 2017
July 2017 - 355ml bottle at home in Richmond as ’Anchor 1896 California Lager’, 4.9%, BB Jan 2019. Currently one of the top 15 pale lagers in the world according to Ratebeer.com. Pours an amber orange, highly sparkling, translucent with a foamy, creamy off-white head. Aroma is airy, crackers, water, wet pebbles. Body is light, frothy with tingly carbonation. Taste is clean and quite watery, white pepper and sodawater, light floral hop tang, dry into the finish. Clean and drinkable, but very plain and basic. Just not my sort of thing I’m afraid.
