To commemorate an important milestone in Anchor Brewings long history, a special ale seemed appropriate. Having found and experimented with a very rare and unusual hop variety called Nelson Sauvin, we knew that its unique character would impart a wonderful flavor and aroma to a pale ale brewed especially for the occasion: Humming Ale.

Bottle split two ways. Pour is clear copper with a frothy head. Nose and taste has the usual suspects, some light resin, grapefruit and pine needles with some light caramel sweetness.

Goryczka średnia - przyjemna i orzeźwiająca. Piwo generalnie bardzo lajtowe jak na 6% woltażu. Minusem są drobiny zawieszone przy dnie naczynia.

Bottle 0,355L. Courtesy of Kita. Cloudy, light orange colour with large, frothy, off-white head and excellent lacing. Aroma of orange, meadow flowers, light pine, white wine, some species. Taste starts light bitter and fruity, than turns into moderate bitter, long lasting aftertaste. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Excellent beer!

"a lighter apa that is distinctly anchor. good balance and bittering, not a lot of citrus and a common anchor flavor and aroma that was familiar yet unique for the style. nice brew."

January 10th, 2013 - Anchor Brewings Steam Lager is a keystone in brewing history and culture, but what of their other brew lines? Are they like Bluemoons offshoots, disgracing an otherwise good beer with clumsily painted on flavors? Not so. The other Anchors arent spin-offs so much as they are new styles, though predictably light and airy, like the patriarch. The Humming Ale is a foamy beard, growing a great white head of thick foam over a semi-cloudy, copper liquid. The smell brings light straw, a nice sourdough tang and yeastiness, and a touch of that sweetness found in old-fashioned rolls. The palate is light and spritzy, masking the flavors until the bubbles pop and clear away. This reveals a slow ramping up of flavor to a funky and fresh biscuit flavor, which rolls and rides well into the aftertaste, complemented by some generic graininess, and a light but curious hop flavor. This is definitely light drinking, but more engaging than most sessionable beers thanks to that sour peal found in the funkier of the flavors.
