COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our special ale from the brewers at Anchor. It is sold only from early November to mid-January. The Ale’s recipe is different every year, but the intent with which we offer it remains the same: joy and celebration of the newness of life. Since ancient times, trees have symbolized the winter solstice when the earth, with its seasons appears born anew.

Editor’s Note: due to the significant similarity in style and strength from year to year (despite potential differences in the exact spice blend), this beer is no longer separated by vintage.

355ml bottle at home. Somewhat reddish pale dark brown with a medium off-white head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Quite bitter with some sweet tones. Malts, clove, caramel, brown sugar, some chocolate and red fruits. A decent winter brew.

2013 bottle. Dark ruby. Different to earlier years w more pronounced spruce or some other similar notes. Good solid Xmas beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Toffee, gingerbread, licorice, hints of alcohol, bitter coffee finish. Does have most qualities of a classic xmas brew, but somehow a bit unbalanced, specially by Anchor standards.

2014 version. On draft and the 2 L bottle. Dark brown with one finger head. Aroma of pine, spices (nut meg). Really well done and different from the more cinnamon christmas beers.

2014 bottle, deep brown beer, good almond head, good lace. Aroma cinnamon, raisin, molasses, coffee. Taste is cinnamon, rootbeer, coffee, cloves. Palate a little light, but ok, carbonation nicely subdued. This should be mulled, I think, or done as a flip.

Helt ok!

Bottle. 2011 vintage. Reddish brown with a medium tan head. Rich red fruits, malt, alcohol, spice, nutmeg, gingerbread, treacle, licorice, red wine. Sweetish, not really any bitterness. Dry finish.

2006 bottle thanks to Douglas. A: Pure black with a cappuccino head. N: Cola, all-spice, pumpkin malt, minerality, oxidation, some toffee, and a good amount of clove. T: Sweet and a bit spicy. M: Medium body, no alcohol, soft carbonation. O: Still going. This has aged decently, though I wouldn’t let it go any farther before consuming lest it fall apart.

Really enjoyed this one. Often Xmas brews are too boozy and sweet. This one has malty fruitiness but also nice crisp bitterness. A good one.

W aromacie goździki, pierniki, imbir, świątecznie na podwalinie ciasteczkowego słodu lekko wpadającego w czekoladę z orzechami. W smaku podobnie, przyprawowo, goździkowo, świątecznie, raczej niezbyt słodko, dobre proporcje i pijalność. Udane.
Earlier Rating: 12/16/2013 Total Score: 3
