2006 bottle. Cinnamon and cloves on the nose. Pours quite dark with a vey quickly dissipating ruby head. Flavour very nice with some astringency (not unpleasantly) and more cloves balanced with some sweet malt. Mouthfeel lets it down a bit as it is a little thin and watery, but all in all a pleasant sesaonal. Furseth (2161) - Kungälv, SWEDEN - DEC 8, 2006
Bottle: Dark red colour, flat head.
Aroma of Spicyness, hops, tar, and and malts. Werry complexy nose.
Flavor is spicy, coffee, dark chocolate, medium body , medium finish. A Compex beer indeed. Borup (14488) - Albertslund, DENMARK - DEC 11, 2006
Bottle. Dark brown colour with a brown head. Aroma and flavour of chocolate, coffee, fruit, roasted malt and hops. Naven (1000) - Poway, California, USA - DEC 15, 2006
12 oz bottle. Faint aroma of chocolate. Brown pour, nice tan head. Taste is malty, with some spices going on. Tastes like a british ale. Decent, but unremarkable. tcfishler (65) - USA - DEC 17, 2006
Deep mahogany-brown with a good-sized, fairly sticky tan head.
Aromas are roasted but at the same time high-toned, with anise, vanilla, and even a hint of soap.
Moderately heavy carbonation and a medium body, with a suggestion of acidity from front to back. Flavor profile is less roasted than the nose, with more fruitiness, spice and some yeastiness too. Ends tangy and ever so slightly astringent.
Doesn’t suit my tastes nearly as perfectly as Anchor Steam or Liberty, but still a very characterful brew.

2006 bottle. Mahogany-brown clor with thick tan head. Aroma of cinnamon, brown sugar and some toasted malt. Flavor is similar but a little over-hopped with a sticky, soapy finish. savitska (163) - Smyrna, Georgia, USA - DEC 19, 2006
The darker of the two beers I drank, the second I drank and the second in my heart.
Malty, syrupy and spicy (think aniseed and coriander, not chile peppers). Worth a pint if you want something new and different and you like "holiday" flavorings. edfitz (118) - Toledo, Ohio, USA - DEC 20, 2006
Heavy malt aroma with hints of banana, toffee and spices. Frothy head with a red body. Moderately sweet with a bitter finish. Tastes of fruit and ginger. Maltier and creamier than other Christmas beers that I have had. cewldre (268) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 23, 2006
Bottle: Merry Christmas. Pours a dark brown color with a nice tan head. I smell some sweet chocolate in there, maybe some slight nut smell in there as well. I smell some spice in there as well, maybe ginger. Taste was a little underwhelming. I note a hint of ginger in this one and some chocolate. I also notice that hint of nut character that I smelled. I’d say this was good, but not great. checkmatei1 (765) - Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 21, 2007
Draft: Pours a dark amber color with a small to not much head. This beer smelled of pine and cloves. The taste was that of the season, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. This was a great desert beer.
