COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Francisco’s famous Anchor Porter brand is made in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer. Our old-fashioned Porter is virtually handmade, with an exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. We use 100% malted barley, generous amounts of fresh, whole hops, entirely natural carbonation and a simple, natural brewing process which is like no other in the world. The deep black color, the thick, creamy head and the intensely rich flavor of Anchor Porter, made in San Francisco since 1974, have earned this delicious and unique brew a worldwide reputation for outstanding quality. It is aesthetically pleasing and wholly superior in every respect.

Dark brown beer with brown head. Aroma is yeast, slight chocolate. Taste is slightly sour, notes of cocoa, caramel, malt. Aftertaste is bitterness from roasted malt and some hops, also cocoa. Feels a bit watery. Very dry beer, medium bitterness. Overall a good beer, maybe needs some fine tuning.

Punkty za historię, ale to porterek z syndromem rozwodnienia, za s£aby, zbyt wiotki, nieszczególny.

Nice malty flavour, but rather watery and one-dimensional. Don’t really understand the hype around this one.

Bought this little cute bottle to try this legend. Nose of chocolate and caramel. Black with nice pale brown head. Mouth: sour, sweet, Podpiwek/kwas chlebowy, too carbonated, watery. Nice red fruits, plum. Little astringent and very sticky, coca-cola on tooth. Yes, sourness, carbonation and loads of caramel make me not appreciate this beer as much as I expected. I think Żywiec Porter is as little as 5% worse only. Probably fulfills all the style requirements, seems I like unusual porters than.

Pours black, beige head, lacing. Aroma of chocolat, sweet, sugary, roasted malts, licorice, touch of dark fruits. Taste is well balanced with sweetness and roasted malts, medium bitterness, dark chocolatate, licorice, some carameland dark fruits. Medium body, average carbonation, bitter finish.

Anchor Porter will always hold a special place in my life. From the time I was in high school, every Xmas eve my best friend and I would drink the Anchor Porters and Anchor Steams from his father’s fridge during our family parties. The smell of the porter and the vision of that label bring back wonderful memories. It is not the best porter that I have ever consumed, but it is the one I love the most.
